Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

Do you guys know of any sites where I can possibly get a deal on a nice 39-47 inch television? It would be primarily for gaming and watching sports. My budget is $600 and I'm not into the 3D or Smart TV features.#HeatNation

Site doesn't list price(which is surprising since I know in Canada they list price for every single item), but I did quick search for ones under $500 and were no bigger than 49 inch and those ones came up. Depends on the person, but I'd rather pay $500 and get a 47 inch tv over pay $400 and get 40 inch or something.Comment

Hey guys, I'm turning a spare bedroom into a game room/man cave or whatever you wanna call it. My budget is around $400. The tv will mostly be used for gaming.

I think I've narrowed it down to these two. What do you guys think?

I'd probably go with the Samsung. That being said, if you can stretch your budget by $48 you get the 46 inch Sammy. Definitely worth it, IMO.Hey guys, I'm turning a spare bedroom into a game room/man cave or whatever you wanna call it. My budget is around $400. The tv will mostly be used for gaming.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with the Samsung. I'm gonna stick with the 40" just due to the size of the room and the viewing distance.I'd probably go with the Samsung. That being said, if you can stretch your budget by $48 you get the 46 inch Sammy. Definitely worth it, IMO.

The Samsung has a lot of nice features the Vizio doesn't. It has a web browser, this thing called AllShare where I guess you can display your computer screen on the tv wirelessly.Comment

Ya, and like I posted to the other person a few posts back, lots of TVs around 46 inches that are under $500 and good makes and everything.I'd probably go with the Samsung. That being said, if you can stretch your budget by $48 you get the 46 inch Sammy. Definitely worth it, IMO.

I have no idea what your dimensions are for viewing distance, but just go with the 46". It won't be too bigYeah, I think I'm gonna go with the Samsung. I'm gonna stick with the 40" just due to the size of the room and the viewing distance.

I really want to but the decree has been laid down by the wife that if I get the 46 I can't get Watch Dogs. I'll have to try some convincing. Lol

Just find good prices, because the samsung 40 inch you posted was like $500.

48 inch is the same price! So surely you can use that as an argument as to why getting bigger tv is better. It's not just best buy, that tv on multiple sites, even amazon,is that price so if one place doesn't have it in stock, you can get it elsewhere.Last edited by Majingir; 05-22-2014, 04:23 PM.Comment

This is what you do: Buy and set it up. Put on her favorite movie and have her favorite dinner waiting. Be sure to ditch/hide the box that has 46 written on it.

 I'm doubting she'll get a tape measure out.Comment

Yep. TV pricing is weird. A 40" tv being the same or having a higher price than a 46" or 50" tv with similar features/brand. 32" tvs are also just as expensive as 37" sets.Just find good prices, because the samsung 40 inch you posted was like $500.
