Damn. LG Engineers have gotten input lag in HDR Game Mode doing 4K with 4.4.4 Chroma Sampling down to 34ms

That's freakin Amazing. Only down side is this firmware update is for both the C & E series OLED.

The B series is still up in the air, because it has a different chipset than the other model

This is great news...I'm hoping to hear good news on the B series at some point too. 34ms is almost indistinguishable from the 20ish that Sammys are churning out.

As much as the goal is to get a 2017 LG OLED, it may come down to picking between a 65" B from 2016 and a 55" B from 2017. Not sure how I'd turn down the bigger screen, especially if the input lag is in the 30's.

I don't want to put blind faith in LG patching in lower input lag in HDR than the current fluctuating 40-60ms.

This also gives me time to save up for the 65" instead of the 55". But after watching countless videos, I definitely want an OLED panel for my next TV and I'm hoping LG brings it next year for us gamers. Back to my JU7500 I go.

I tried telling you that before lol. I also want an OLED but not in the current situation it's in with the very high input lag. Right now overall there's no better tv than the ks Series from Samsung. It does everything good. I've had mine for a couple of months already and love it. I'm sure next year LG will improve their OLEDS and have the gaming aspect all set too.

When I was going threw the settings last night I would see the screen dim after like 5 seconds and I was thinking why is it doing this? Why are my settings not sticking? Did I get a lemon lol. After hours and hours and staying up much later then I should have I found out that the TV has power saving type of settings and that those settings are on and that if you have them on the TV will dim. Once I turned them off the TV stopped doing that and I was able to make my settings stick. I also watched a bluray movie last night in Captain America Civil war and the movie looked really good much better then my old 720p upscale 1080p TV would look when watching a bluray.

Your tv has built in 4K HDR apps. Try watching "The Grand Tour" on amazon through the tv app. It's in 4K HDR or on YouTube watch "costa rica 4K". You'll be blown away. You'll never want to watch 1080p and especially 720p ever again in your life.

This is good news. 34ms isn't great it's very decent, but it's a lot better than what they had before. This is a good indication that next years models will be a lot better for gaming.

This year's adds a wide colour gamut (which mine doesn't have) which will help with HDR performance. It won't be great HDR as it can't get anywhere near bright enough to do it justice. But a solid buy either way if you can't get the 8000 series.

Honestly, 34ms is pretty darn good. The best monitors in the world are in the 9-12ms range, typical monitors being in the 15-25ms range. But those super low input lag monitors make huge compromises with picture quality to attain those numbers. The best Sammys are in the 20ish range. At 34ms, you're talking about ONE frame difference. This will pretty much never affect you playing any game.

If this year's and next year's OLEDs from LG are going to be in the 30ish range, the only thing stopping them from being the best choice for 4K HDR gaming would be cost, because they are that much more expensive.

The Ebay route is 50/50. What pisses me off is that there is no penalty for people who bid, win and dont pay. For example, my LG sold for $445 and when the auction is over the guy says basically "I changed my mind". So I have to relist the TV again.
I've been having this same problem with Ebay. Non-paying bidders have become an epidemic the last few years.

A few things you can do to eliminate this problem:

                    1) Go to "Site Preferences" in your Ebay account and go down to "Buyer requirements". Block buyers with Unpaid Item Strikes, Policy Violations and Negative feedback score

                    2) Stop using Auctions and start using Fixed Price/Buy it now. When someone bids and doesn't pay for your auction it's a huge waste of time. You wait 6 or so days for the auction to end and then wait 3 or so days for the person to pay. If someone doesn't pay for Buy it now you only have to wait 2 days to re-list and non-paying bidders for Buy it now are a lot less common.

At Best Buy trying to match Samsung partner pricing.

As expected they couldn't price match that. I am looking at the J6200 50" for $400 or the 55" for $480 instead via Samsung. I bought a crappy LG 55" on Cyber Monday for my girlfriend on little research. KS8000 is obviously better, but the purpose is to basically go from a 42" to something bigger so I'm not concerned about 4K as much as I'd love to have a KS8000. Looks like this other set has really good motion qualities which is my main concern.

                      ---

Scratch all that. I think I am gonna go with the 50" Hisense 50H8C so I can use all my Best Buy gift cards. 4K + being able to return to Best Buy if there is an issue.

Apparently just anyone can access Samsung partner pricing - https://www.retailmenot.com/view/samsung.com?c=8286075

The link for "55% Off 55 Inch KS8000 Samsung 4K SUHD TV + Free Shipping" actually works. YMMV of course once you order. $729 + tax (depending on the state) + free shipping.

This is huge when you take into account their doing in 4k with 4.4.4 Chroma Sampling.

When you force a Samsung to do 4.4.4 Chroma Sampling in HDR they do 39ms.

That's why by default in HDR Game Mode they do 4.4.2 Chroma Sampling to achieve the low input lag

Honestly right now might be the time jump in

The Hisense has a 4 year warranty too. I imagine it will be a PITA to ever deal with, but at least it's there.

Anyone know if a manufacturers warranty would still be included on an open box item?
