Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Question about game mode. Should I be setting up my cable to run in movie mode and then game mode for the PS4? I guess I'm just figuring out how to do it. I'm no good at messing around with settings.
I guess what I'm asking is will each input automatically go to say move mode for tv and game mode for the PS4?
Also should I have HDR+ mode on? It looks like it changes the whole picture mode itself.Last edited by PVarck31; 12-01-2016, 02:19 AM.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Ok, I think I got it to separate the modes by input. I'm not sure I like movie mode with cable. It seems so washed out and dark.
When it lets me choose HDR+ in special viewing mode, it changes picture mode from movie to HDR+ mode. So that's kinda confusing.Last edited by PVarck31; 12-01-2016, 02:30 AM.Comment

Samsung KU6500. I see you can choose all inputs or the current one, but when I switch back they just stay the same. But then when I turn on game mode it won't let me turn on HDR+

Then 3 and 4 I did as my PS4 and Xbox, respectively. I used the Xbox calibration menu to do my Input 4 settings with but the first thing I did was turn on Game Mode in the General settings for Input 4. Then calibrated it, applied it to only that source and copied those same settings for my PS4 Input 3, also Game Mode first.

You need to turn on UHD Color to ON for each input you want to run HDR through. As far as saving the settings, I'm not sure. I've never had an issue on my Sammy from last year. What I did is set my Input 1 to my cable and did Movie Settings recommended by rtings. I applied those settings to all sources. I made Input 2 my PC and turned down brightness and applied to only that source.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have to say, game mode in the PS4 UI looks stunning. But my cable doesn't look all that great. Kinda washed out, dark and reddish. I turned it to standard picture mode because I really didn't like movie. I used RTINGS calibration for movie mode. Maybe I need to find values for standard?Last edited by PVarck31; 12-01-2016, 02:48 AM.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
On the TV. I have the vanilla PS4. I know I can't use HDR on it without the pro. I'm just wondering why I can't turn it on through the tv. Could it be input 3 doesn't support it?

I would still use game mode for the PS4 and I can PM you my settings I have if you'd like. We have similar TVs. As for cable, I used the rtings settings myself but admittedly it was too dark for me. Try bumping the backlight up until the picture looks better to you. Give it a week. I did when I got the TV and I can't go back.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Because the vanilla PS4 doesn't have true HDR and neither does that model of TV, that is probably why you're running into issues there. The PS4 doesn't have HDMI 2.0 so the TV probably won't let an HDR signal through.

Thanks man. And yeah, I'd love if you could PM me your settings. I knew this tv didn't have "true" HDR, but it did say it still does make the picture better, just not to the point of some of the high end tv's. I'm ok with that for what I paid. I really didn't have much choice because of budget. So I have to live with it. lol
I'll PM you my PS4 settings which I basically copied from the Xbox One settings I have after using its terrific built-in calibration menu.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
You would get a better picture if you had a PS4 Pro or Xbox One S. The TV you got, for the price you paid, is a great 4K set. I'd personally feel alot better buying that Sammy over alot of similarly or even higher priced sets. Long story short it's not the TV that's holding you back from getting that better picture, it's the source. In this case the Vanilla PS4.

One last question. Can you think of any reason I can't HDMI UHD color to enable on the other inputs besides HDMI 1?Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Edit: I had a similar reaction when I first watched 4K content on my Sammy when I got it for Christmas. It's one thing to see content in store. When it's sitting at home in front of your face? Jaw-dropping indeed.
Edit 2: just went on rtings.com, it appears UHD Color setting is in fact only available on Input 1. Surprised. What I would do if I were you is hook up the PS4 to it. I think you'd get more out of it personally. Just personal opinion though.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Wish me luck! About to attempt a price match on a KS8000. I don't imagine I'll have success, but have to go return an item anyways so I might as well try.Comment
