I likely won't upgrade again until I take a gander at Samsung's QLED lineup about three years down the road from now.
      Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60

I was going to go Samsung as well, but after doing some research the Vizio seems like a great choice and has deeper blacks and lower input lag. The comparable models for the Vizio P series cost 2-3 times more. I want a 65 inch tv now. I'm still rocking a 50 inch Panasonic plasma. Picture quality is great but it's time for an upgrade.

Yeah, our current TV is a 2013 60" Samsumg 8000 series I think. It's nice, but I want 4k and HDR.

I'm on a 2011 Panasonic plasma. Like you I want 4K and HDR set as well.

What are your thoughts on the brand Insignia? My brother is thinking of getting a 32" led tv & has been scouting them on the web. Thanks.

                IMO, insignia is awful.

I'd stay away from Insignia. Their TVs lack good color range as they're usually 8bit panels and sometimes less. They also have very high input lag which is terrible for gaming. I'd wait for a sale and get a better brand if you can.

Okay thanks for the info. I've never owned one so was just curious what others thought.

I love Vizio. Has always been a great TV for me. Too bad they don't seem to sell them in Asia or they go by a different name here.

What will he be using for? At 32" getting an Insignia isn't a bad choice. Parts are from LG so you get a rebranded LG IMO

It's just for his back room. Would just be for watching tv & dvd/blu-ray movies. Not gaming as he does that on his main tv which is an LG.

For those purposes, he will get OK picture quality. How close will he be sitting? I ask because the closer he sits the more imperfections he will see, no matter what brand he buys

What's the next "big thing" that'll pop up? Any ideas?

Right now it's big getting 4k/HDR and those qualities will keep getting better...

Not sure if higher resolution is really necessary anytime soon...
