Looking for a tv for the new family room I'm building in the basement. I have all Sony's but looking at the Vizios. How is the Vizio p series? Reading great reviews.

How is it for gaming and response time ?

I have the P-55 and love it. As for gaming/response time, on HDMI 5 and Gaming Low Latency ON you get about 17ms response time. You cannot get HDR with HDMI 5. HDMI 1-4 you can get HDR and the response time is about 43ms.

I was using HDMI 5 with my PS4 and then I upgraded to the Pro and moved it to one of the other HDMI ports. I have not had much trouble with the increased response time but I know others have. It took me a few games to adjust while playing the Show, but once I got used to it I didn't have an issue.

rtings.com says its really good for gaming, I was going to buy one but Costco didn't have it so I ended up getting the Samsung KS850D.

If you want the 65" Vizio P65-C1, you just missed a heck of a deal on it, about 2 weeks ago when I was looking for mine Costco had it for $1549.99, it's normally $1899.99 at Best Buy on sale.

But then again, that's probably why they didn't have it when I went to Costco, LOL

One thing the Vizio's struggle at is 4K upscaling and motion.

Thanks guys I'm debating that and the Samsung 8000. I have about a month until I buy when I expect the basement done. Want the best bang for the buck. Going to put a PlayStation pro on it.

Well I finally made the jump to 4K HDR.

Brought an open-box Sony XBR65X930D for 1699 from BB. (Thanks Scott for answering my questions) Picking it up tomorrow. Picked up an XB-1S also.

Received my DENON AVR 720W also today in the mail.

                Should be a fun weekend....

Since I know a lot of people are fans of Hisense on here, wanted to pass along some news. Hisense is discontinuing their 4 year manufacture warranty starting on April 1st. It'll go from a 4 year to a 1 year.

Can't believe I've never ventured into this thread.

Admittedly, I'm largely ignorant when it comes to TV calibration and settings to turn on/off for my PS4 vs cable inputs. I know that there aren't "one size fits all" settings, and I know that, in general, people say to disable most everything in the TV settings for your PS4, and that some of them are good to turn on for cable to help with lower quality material. But that's about all I know.

Is there a source that people generally recommend for calibration settings? And maybe one that talks about settings that are good to turn on for cable/sports? (i.e. Noise Reduction, Smooth Gradation, Motionflow, CineMotion, etc)

                        I have a Sony KDL70W850B LED, FWIW.

Honestly, the best thing is to have it professionally calibrated. You can find some good settings online, but not all TVs are the same.

Here is an in-depth review that you may find helpful with the Vizio-P....

Personally, after a few weeks with the P65-C1....I'm still amazed at the PQ at this price range (I got it when it was discounted at Costco for like $1500, but now its back to over $2K)....

Really, my only con is the fact that upscaling is not as good as I would like it, specifically for 720p sources (on YouTube)....FreeDawkins is my source for NBA highlights and he got his highlights in 720p, so its not up to the quality I would like at the moment....but with some recent updates, it actually seems better (could be placebo though)....But when it comes to 1080p and 4K sources....WOW....unbelievable! Shows on Netflix that are in Dolby Vision are freakin' astounding! Almost like your there in the scene, with the camera, watching on the set....That freakin' good....Its those 'inky' black levels that this unit can deliver b/c of the full array backlighting....4K LG OLED demos look fantastic on this set....In fact, if I put them side to side, I don't think you would notice much difference....And in fact, I feel this unit has can handle motion better than those OLEDs from what I hear in other forums (AVS & Blu-ray.com)....

But as our fellow members have said....go check them out....but as I mentioned in a previous post....I was not impressed at all with the Vizio when I viewed it in Costco....Just went with the research of my 'respected' list of reviewers at AVS, blu-ray.com, and here....too a leap of faith and brought it home...also, having a 90 day, satisfaction guarantee from Costco sure helps...

                                Good luck on the hunt!
