Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Hey guys, quick question. I know TCL sets offer a lot of value. Was wondering how the 6 series 617 stacks up as far as motion, input lag, and HDR. Thanks.

Motion is terrible, it's a 60 hz tv. If you plan on watching sports on it, don't even bother.

If gaming is what you will mostly do it is a fantastic set. Sports not so much as the 60hz panel is a hindrance at this point. But movies look good and gaming is excellent with low input lag and fantastic pop and brightness for HDR content

Do you think TV prices are gonna go down after the new year? The TV I almost bought was the QLED that was on sale for $1,000. Do you think that TV will at least remain the same price going forward since it's a 2018 model?

I currently have the Samsung KU6500 and it's been great as a gaming TV, but I'm now having all kinds of issues watching sports, especially football. I know it's a 60hrz panel but it seems like it's worse than normal. But the weird thing is, it's not really when the games are in motion where I'm noticing this issue.

Basically when the teams are lined up in the wide view the linemen start to get this weird jumpy pixelation where it looks like they're bodies are shape shifting lol. Even my wife saw it when I pointed it out and she can't tell 480p from 4K.

So I don't know if it's my TV or what. But amazingly she's cool with me getting a new TV after the first of the year. I'm not looking to spend a ton, as long as I have a true 120hrz panel for sports, and real HDR for gaming. I have the One X and I need to put it to its full potential .

if you want 120hz native panel for 1000 or less the 55NU8000 is the choice, it is great for the X as it has native 120hz if you buy the 55 inch and up only and it has free sync for the X...if you run 1080p with free synch downsampled from 4k the input lag is just 6 ms

MAN!!! I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the Samsung NU8000 65"

I just need to know if this will keep me future proofed for the gaming future.

Input Lag is great HDR gaming is also one of the best out there, Im kinda of torn, Its either going to be the NU8000 for me or the TCL R617.

The TCL HDR (NITS) is quite a bit higher the the Samsung NU8000

Seems like all the bigger tvs 55+ are getting the better discounts than the smaller versions almost to a point where they cost the same or even lower in some cases
Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
                        Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
                        Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

                        Captain Tenneal: Get it on!

Except the Samsung is the only tv on the market that supports freesync. If you're doing any sports watching, you don't like the motion on the TCL.

I know your in the Biz Scott, but to be honest I own the P607 right now and I have Zero issue watching any sports at all, I think its a nit picking thing, but I have no problems. The Peak HDR on the TCL is right up there with the Sony X900F, for a budget TV thats great. I mean a lot of the other top TV I haven’t even coming that close to HDR peak performance. Also the TCL series is definitely one of the Top gaming TV, for input lag and the HDR peak Performance, the NITS hit 800 like the Sony .

The TCL 6 series from this year is an awesome gaming tv. But not for sports as 60hz panel is an eye sore compare to a native 120hz.

If you care only about gaming the TCL is great in terms of low input lag and fantastic contrast, black levels and it is bright.

The Samsung NU800 pq not as good but it offers even better input lag and offers free sync which is a big deal for x owners.

Just that the TCL provides a better balance for gaming even though the NU8000 offers a better performance for games.
