Re: New Girl (FOX)
Had the debate this weekend on the current "Power Rankings" for the characters on the show. My current top 5:
1) Schmidt. Just too many great one liners to pass up.
2) Nick. I feel like I should be annoyed by his screaming but it is hilarious. Last weeks line, "If you don't want to look at my face then look at my ***" catapulted him to #2
3) Jess. Still awkwardly classic this season.
4) Winston. The radio storyline wasn't all that funny to me but he still has his great moments in the apartment.
5) Cece. Uhhhhh. Look at her.Comment

Re: New Girl (FOX)
Nick is at the bottom of the totem pole for me. He is the real douche in the apartment with Schmidt being by far the best character on the show.
Jess has been slipping the past couple of weeks. I get that she is abnormal and specializes in awkwardness "cuteness", but make it plausible and less crazy. Eating dinner with your boyfriend's ex-wife? WTF is that ****? Then her screaming at Nick for being "happy." Yeah, she'd be out of the apartment by now.

Their argument was an obvious foreshadowing of them getting together in the future.Comment

Maybe it will be one of those things that take a long time to REALLY happen, kinda like Ross and Rachel. Yeah, I watched friends. So what...want to fight about it?

Torn on if I want it to take forever or not. Really liked how they dealt with it all season. Only hinted at it every few episodes or so. Not like Jim and Pam from "The Office" where it was beat over your head until that storyline took away from enjoying the funny that was happening.Comment

The second they did, The Office lost some of what made it so great, and it never really recovered from that. Especially after season 4, when the newness of seeing them together was still intriguing enough to be interesting.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

I honestly thought at the time, and I still think this, that the Jim/Pam story was one of the most well-done will they/won't they relationships I have ever seen on television.

But I'm glad they are just making the Nick/Jess deal an REAL subtle undertone of the show so far. They can keep it up at this pace for a while.Comment

Re: New Girl (FOX)
The Pam-Jim is the legit "Ross/Rachel" of that generation of TV. It wasn't obvious and it really took the time to build a good friendship between Pam and Jim and it was nice to just have Jim develop this "thing" for Pam kind of on his own.
With other shows, it just seems obvious from day 1 who is gonna knock boots.
With this, I'd rather just leave Nick and Jess as the two weird shouting friends and not have anything sexual between them.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 04-30-2012, 03:01 PM.

It's gonna happen.

It is so obvious. They go from her saying she wants passion to her having a fight. I'm surprised that they waited and didn't have them kiss right there, it was so obvious that it is going to happen that I thought it would happen then.
