After checking through Amazon's selection, about 90-95% of what I saw is also available through Netflix. Amazon has the edge in (certain) movies, Netflix has the edge with (certain) TV shows.

Yea, Netflix is really slacking on movies and shows at this point. They are showing movies I probably wouldn't watch for free on demand let alone pay 10 bucks a month to watch. Imma give it one more month for me to warrant purchasing again but at this point, I rarely watch it at all because whenever I browse I see the most pitiful movies. Mortal Kombat??? Are you serious??

Just saw the first episode last night & wow did it bring back memories. I was really surprised how much I still remembered the very first show after all these years. (34 now) Best show of my childhood! Thanks Netflix for stepping it up with this show!

It's a very smart move on their part.

If they went forward with Quickster (sp)...that would be a move of a "noob".

Give them credit. So many companies out there make stupid moves and go right on with them. They released the info...and reconsidered. Some companies and their CEOs operate on pride and that is what usually brings down the company.

I wouldn't exactly call anything they've done in the past two months smart. Everything they've been doing is screaming reactionary decision model. They appear to have no plan whatsoever and, as a result, appear to have no idea what the hell they're doing or where they want to go in the future.

The separation of streaming and the dvd service wasn't the poor decision. The poor decision was to disallow integration of the services.

Exactly. They seem to be throwing an idea out there, and moving forward with how it is received by the public.

No one can be considered smart when your corporation has lost more than half of it's value in just a few short months. That market cap is somewhere aroudn 6B now, after it was more like 14-16B in July.

This is all kind of really strange to me. Shouldn't a corporation like Netflix have had their stuff together? I mean, they obviously knew what they were doing before when they pretty much ran every large video rental store out of business - and now they turn around and look like they have no clue what they're doing and seem confused...

My wife and I picked up the Amazon Prime thing. It's got a decent selection, but I'm not very impressed with the software behind it; I can't even find a way to make a playlist with it, and the search layout is really poor. I'm hoping they keep working on it and get their act together and it turns out to be a decent service. Since it's also a "rent and buy" type service - it all gets really muddied up with all these different options and stuff; I wish they'd just separate it entirely somehow.

Great post. But I still give them credit to listening to their customers. A lot of companies don't do that enough - they stick with their plans and run themselves into the ground.

This listening was a result of the mass exodus though lol

Thing is they've opened a door for others to jump in on them now

Im seriously considering that dish network/blockbuster thing at this point
since they allow not only movies but games as well as streaming and dvd
for just 10 bux

The thing was - they had everything perfectly set already and then went ahead and changed it all. They didn't listen to their customers, they split the two into different prices and effectively doubled their monthly cost; they just finally realized how stupid it is to split it into two companies.
