Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
That premiere was horrific - and not in a good way.
90 minutes of watching them look for a little girl? No story advancement, a number of plot holes and dialogue that made no sense.
So deputy Dan tries to rape sheriff's wife, she tells him to leave her alone, and now wife is mad that Deputy won't spend time with her kid?
Mom's daughter is lost in woods with zombies and she stays by the road without helping to look?
The whole thing with the gun and the blonde, was horrible too.
This was a really bad episode. I really hope they pick things up in show #2.
That entire show could have been done in 5 minutes, not 90.
Very disappointing.
But on a positive note, "Hell on Wheels" looks awesome!Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
Maybe I shouldn't have read the first two TPBs, but I think the comic actually handles the drama and characters much better.
The intensity of the show is amazing and the zombie kills are fresh and a joy to watch, but some of the interactions with the characters are just blah. Shane and Lori's little affair either needs to die or Shane does. Lori getting offended that Shane wasn't talking to her or her son was a major stretch and really paints her character in a ridiculously horrible light.
For being a "90 minute" premier, there never appeared to be an obvious story-line or any kind of plot development until the last scene (which was awesome. I'm surprised they included that from the comics. I'm still hoping for some 'gun training' action later). It just felt like an empty episode. It was okay, but it was obviously stretched out to fill time.
Dale is awesome. He is like a zombie ninja hunter.

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
Really? That's a bummer.
I couldn't have cared less if the little girl was eaten and I didn't even care whenSpoilerthe Sheriff's kid was shot
Like Fresh Tendrils pointed out, Daryl is the only character I'm interested in. All the rest are either boring or walking cliche's.
By the end of this episode, I was almost praying that all the main characters, except for Daryl, were killed off.
Ep#2 better bring it. Ep#1 was a huge letdown.
I'm starting to think that only having 6 episodes in season 1 was for the best. They were forced to move the story along and compact meaningful plot points into each one.
With 13 episodes, they can drag it out further. You know it's bad when I explained the entire episode in less than 12 seconds to a co-worker this morning.
Zombie herd, little girl lost, character shot. NEXT!
EDITED: Wrong name used - Daryl, haha.Last edited by Money99; 10-17-2011, 10:54 AM.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
I think the show can handle a full season load, they just need to have a tigher story-line.
I guess next week they'll (from the comics)
SpoilerGet to the farm which, if nothing else, will provide some new faces and new interactions.
And I meant Daryl, not Dale. Ha. Though Dale is really interesting to me. He is essentially manipulating what the entire group does not only without their knowledge, but because he doesn't trust their decision making skills.

SpoilerI felt for both kids, knowing that the little girl was lost out in the woods and that Rick's kid getting shot at the end.
I agree this didn't advance the story much, but it was quite the intense thrill ride that first 25 minutes created. Plus, the one big thing with zombie films is the injection of human conflict. I think this show has done quite a bit of that. Yes it is about a zombie apocalypse and how the hell did it happen, but there is always the notion about the conflicts at center stage and how us as humans are not the perfect species and would still take ourselves out even with all these bad things going on around us.
Unlike many of those upset with this episode and series in general, which has been in creative hell since its release, I am more upset by some of those stupid zombie commercials. LOL! Glad we only have to deal with them during this show. Only good commercial was the one with the zombie texting about eating an actor.
I did like the zombies sitting in the church going through as if it were routine. That was a nice touch. I hope that this series begins to explore the evolution of the zombie as not just mindless creatures. Romero started a bit of this, but his movies have fallen off quality wise.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 10-17-2011, 12:04 PM.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
The series is definitely centered around human conflict. It reminds me of early Romero movies in the sense that the chunk of the story is built on the characters and their interactions with one another with that nice, looming threat of a zombie attack at practically any minute.
With that said, the non-zombie drama is just bland right now. There is nothing going on that is very interesting or not melodramatic. The gun/suicide thing just felt over-handed to me and as I said earlier, the Shane and Lori relationship is spinning in circles. Considering the size of the cast I would think there would be more than two on-going side-stories, but there is really nothing outside those two and the rest of the cast just comes off as being flat.

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
I really didn't have too many problems with last night's episode. Them hiding under the cars from the zombie herd might have been some of the most tense moments I have seen on TV or film in a while. It might have just been an emotional high with my excitement for the show being back, but it was still a good example of something I love about this show.
The Shane and Lori thing is odd. Sometimes I hate both of them, but then I kind of understand how things go sometimes. I assume the majority of viewers don't like Shane, so I can see why they would keep him around instead of killing him so the show has a very real antagonist aside from the countless zombies they encounter.
Seeing that the farm is coming up should give the people who want some side stories a little bit of hope. Just seeing the farm for that brief moment was enough to get me excited. Granted, I'm not sure how much of the farm story will come to the TV side of things, but it still should provide a little more "meat" for the viewers to chew on.
Outside of the major plot points we all know about, I think I'm most interested in the evolution of the zombies. From what seems to be nomadic herding of the zombies to the zombies sitting in a church. I hope that we get a little bit of backstory on this.
Overall, I'm still very happy with the show. Even with the transgressions from the comic series and the sometimes slow nature of the plot. I do have a concern that Carl is going to get the "Walt" treatment and get too old too fast for the role. I guess we'll see what happens though.PSN - RedSea_RouchComment

I fully realize that this show is going to run on human conflicts, in a crazy scenario, but my main beef is that I've lost a tonne of interest in these characters and their conflicts.
If you haven't checked out the episode 2 preview, it looks like they're creating another conflict out of thin air when the black guy starts to turn crazy.
He just had his life saved by Daryl, but he thinks he's out to get him.
They need to throw a few new characters in there. Put someone in the group that's hellbent on world domination. Maybe this person feels that since there are no more laws or rules, they can take what they want and possibly build their own army of marauders.
But watching Lori get ticked at Shane for not taking her son fishing or playing tiddly-winks is out of order. The dude tried to rape her and she told him to stay away and now she's mad that he's keeping his distance???
I hope they kill off everyone but Sheriff, Daryl and Shane and then bring in some more hardcases or weirdo's.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
IMO, and IMO only, they need to stick to the comics a little closer.
SpoilerShane needs to die and fast. The actor is good, the character sucks balls. Either make him leave or kill him off.
And Andrea needs to stop being a bitch and be the *** kicker that she was in the comics.
And give Carl the gun training all ready.
I do feel the episode was good though, very surprised they carried over Carl getting shot but I like what that means.Too Old To Game Club
Urban Meyer is lol.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
I don't think I spoiled anything really. The 2nd-episode trailer is available to anyone, and mentioning Daryl helping him wasn't a huge plot-twist of any kind either.

I wish they had expanded on that a bit more.Last edited by Money99; 10-17-2011, 12:08 PM.Comment

I just hope they do not spend the whole season trying to find Sofia/Sophia. Through all the conflict, it might be the one thing that keeps this group together and from killing each other, to save a little girls life.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 2)
I keep reading about the farm and saw it in the previews. Is the farm something big in the comics? If it is, please use spoilers not to ruin anything for anyone. I am intrigued that the farm has that "Night of the Living Dead" look to it, so should be interesting.

The search for Sophia could get old quick. Now they have other things to worry about (Carl). A little bit of a fork in the road for what characters may or may not want to do.
I just started reading The Walking Dead Compendium One for the second time and it's cool to go back and really see what is different from the comic to the show. I HIGHLY recommend anyone who likes to read comics at all, to go pick up any of The Walking Dead trades that they can. Worth the read.PSN - RedSea_RouchComment

Not everyone watches the previews. Some of us don't like to know what to expect going into a new episode.Comment
