    Re: Spotify

I pay for it. I just have all my music saved and do shuffle. I don't much use playlists or go to album/artist-specific but even if I do, it only cycles through a few of those songs too.

For such an awesome service, this whole shuffle thing is mind-boggling. And it seems to be a well-known problem that just isn't addressed apparently.

That's odd. Whenever I shuffle my playlists it will typically play all the songs before it starts to repeat.

        Re: Spotify

Maybe instead of shuffling from my "songs" I need to add all my songs to a separate playlist. Gonna be tough since I have like 10,000+ songs or something. I wonder if there's a way to do it quickly.

Albums being pulled are driving me crazy.

Victory Records pulled their catalog over a dispute about royalties not being paid. Since VR is generally a ****ty label, I'd venture to guess that it will be a long time, if ever, that those albums get put back up. Includes "scene" classics like Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, Hawthorne Heights, and The Junior Varsity.

Just went to play one of Strung Out's old records and it's gone too. But it makes no sense because past and future albums are all on the same label as the one I want to play (Fat Wreck Chords).

I just wish there was more transparency to when and why albums are being pulled. Sucks to have an album saved in my music, go to play and it's blanked out.

I thought VR was complaining the other day about losing revenue because of their stuff being pulled?

Spotify for sure. When I'm at the gym, it takes Apple Music a bit of time to load the next song .

Had premium, but it wouldn't work with my Wi-Fi for some reason. Ended up getting Google play music.

you should all pay attention to the Microsoft store holiday deals. They ALWAYS have one day where a Microsoft music/groove year subscription is only ~$30. It's practically the same as spotify premium, almost the same exact catalog.

Yeah, apparently they said they'd have to cut some jobs because Spotify royalties account for 70% of their digital sales.

But Spotify still gets painted as some evil jerk stealing money from artists. Listen, if people didn't have Spotify and other streaming services, they'd be ripping the songs for free. The royalties might not be great, but it's something. I do agree that discussions should be on going to make sure artists are fairly compensated, but the services and industry need to work hand-in-hand. There's a compromise that can be reached, but of course neither side will want to give an inch.

As far as I'm concerned, the music industry brought this on themselves for being so anti-technology and shunning streaming and other services instead of embracing them as a new means of getting their material out there. In the end, it only hurts the smaller guys while the mega stars are going to see great album sales and royalties regardless. The rich get richer.

With all that said, Victory Records albums are BACK on Spotify as of today. I don't know what agreement was reached, but it happened. We, the consumers, win!

To the question of other services: Spotify has always been my go to. Gave Rdio a try and the music catalog on there was severely lacking for bands I want to listen to. Spotify got out ahead of other services and it shows. They're the best.

I can see Apple Music being good eventually (just launched this year so it'll take time), but I'm surprised to never hear much about Google and Microsoft. Didn't even know MS had a music streaming service. For right now, Spotify reigns supreme.
