The screen on the touchpad costs $70 alone.

Maybe MS could pull off a competent W8 tablet and sell it at a loss, but I doubt it would touch $99.
I was referring to the resale. Those buying and making a quick $100-200 on ebay.

In terms of tablets it's the ipad and then there's everybody else. I'm not a Apple fan (overpriced IMO) but their stuff just works and works well.

I don't have the link handy, but some android developers have already begun the porting of Gingerbread to the HP Touchpads and they don't anticipate it taking too long before they release it.

Therefore I did splurge and order one on the blowout, regardless of support and Android it'll still be pretty useful at times.

Dammit. I really, really want one. Can't though. No money to do so.

I got in on this as well. Let's see if it goes though and they ship it.

Just an FYI, as someone who works at Officemax, I know for a fact that the 32 GB is going to drop again, to 49 dollars.

But I'm not sure why you guys are all up about this. Once HP shuts it down, the WebOS is done.

Still cannot believe that HP did people this dirty. Release their tablet then about a month later say they are stopping it.

They better have a hell of a government contract or something.

49 dollars for the 32gb? wow

what does it mean that WebOS is done though? No more updates for bug fixes etc?

So what is the HP good for? Web surfing, video watching, email?

WebOS will get no more updates. HP is shutting the entire system down. It's why you are seeing these crazy prices. It's also why HP is giving full refunds to people who bought it for $499.

At this point, though, I doubt any store has any left. A number of OfficeMax stores that I watch sold out on Saturday.

even if webos doesnt update which hp is saying it will do because of the overwhelming support for it due to the buying frenzy. Its still a color reader, with a camera, apps and web surfing for $100

If anything its a $99 oversized ipod like device for music movies websurfing, etc...

I wanted to get one for my wife but I was at a funeral when things were going down and missed it all

Don't know how true it is, but I just read HP is shipping 150,000 more of these things on Thursday.

Pissed I missed the first rush. Is HP really shipping out 150,000 more? I've never wanted a tablet, but for $100 it's worth getting
