I managed to do that with How I Met Your Mother. Last season just killed that show for me, so I stopped watching.

I will probably do the same with this show if it does return next year. All I'm saying is that I'd rather see a show go out while it still has some dignity, instead of hanging on well past its prime.

I liked parts of last night's episode. Dwight and the auction was funny. Kevin and the dog at the end was hilarious. And the cold open was hilarious to me.

I'm not understanding the hate for the new season. It is hardly the best run that the show has had but there are still some fantastic character moments like Dwight at the auction and Kevin with the dog. I think they should get one more season to wrap it all up in as strong a fashion as possible. Bring back Steve Carrell for a couple of episodes and go out with a bang.

My only real complaint so far, other than Robert California, are that since Michael left they've tried to turn "someone" into Michael Scott. Most notably Andy.

Every week he seems to be doing more far-fetched things in order to try and capture that Michael Scott vibe and it just isn't working for me.

I still enjoy the show but's it's far down my list of favorite comedies. (Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Parks And Recreation).

This last episode was average at best. Andy in this state is just not appealing.

This season hasn't been great, but I am loving the path they are going down to get rid of Robert California, and at the same time bringing back David Wallace, who FWIW was a character I enjoyed when ever he got some screen time. I also like that Andy out of nowhere grew a pair.

Yeah I agree, I thought last night's episode was pretty good and I like the direction it's taking.

Since Micheal left the episodes have been pretty hit or miss, but like others have said, that's mainly due to Robert and Nellie. I'm not sure why the made Andy a Micheal clone, but I wish they would bring back the old Andy (more). Micheal was, for the most part, my least favorite character for the last few years, so I was hoping that the new boss would be less "Michealish". I think the show still has some legs because there's still some interesting/funny story-lines. I really enjoyed the Kelly and Ryan stuff a couple of episodes ago and I'm a little perturbed that they never expounded on Dwight and Angela's baby. What's up with that?

They set up next week's season finale rather well. Now we know why there was a David Wallace cameo the week before. This isn't a spoiler, but merely speculation on my part, but I believe David Wallace will buy the company and name Andy the CEO. That means no more Robert California but Nellie will remain the regional manager of the Scranton branch and Andy will be HER boss. So yeah, I think Robert will be gone next season and Nellie will stay. I am fine with that.

I know we are getting into semantics but wouldn't Wallace be CEO? Maybe Andy as COO. Like I said semantics.

Wallace would be COO, but Andy would be Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and General Manager of both Raw and Smackdown.

I thought last night's episode was very good. It was plenty funny, they finally gave Nellie some depth (I hate her significantly less now than I did 24 hours ago), and they set up a pretty interesting way to get rid of California, while bringing back a character that, as a pretty normal, straight-laced kind of guy, can actually play off the more over the top characters in the show.

This season is sad. I, too, find myself more in disbelief than in actually enjoying the show. What made me love this series was how it could make me feel awkwardness, embarrassment, hilarity, and sadness all in a single episode. Now, it just makes me feel pity for the cast. The new manager is annoying, Robert California's storyline is beyond odd, and while I love Andy, I think his new role is just annoying.

Overall, it's like watching your dog slowly dying, you know it's coming and you want to put it out of its misery, but you just don't have the gull to do it.

Sounds good to me. As I've said before, I've always liked the Nellie character, but her "fake it till you make it" routine wasn't really going anywhere. Showing more of her personality aside from work (less the debt, and more her wanting a kid and talking to her mother) was a good way to go. Thought Catherine Tate played it well in saying she had a friend at the office, just as a character who looked genuinely happy to say it.
