I think that's the right way to go.

Dwight camera tricks were the best thing about this season finale.

I was disappointed with Spader's character this year-very badly defined.

Yeah - His character interviewing for the job was a totally different guy than the one that actually got the job. Even accounting for posturing, it was pretty drastic.

Other news - Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, and Ed Helms all reached deals for next season. NBC officially picked up The Office for next year, and Mindy Kaling's FOX pilot was picked up.

That's my thinking. The interview from last season had him as an out of left field guy that could have been a mind control genius. It became evident with each episode that they couldn't pull the trigger in developing a complex character so they pretty much gave up.

Yeah good call by both of you guys. I remember actually being intrigued by his character during the interview last year. Then the wheels just came flying off. I agree his character was terribly disappointing.

Good news. Glad to hear. . . well . . . about the Office. What does Kaling's pilot mean? Will she still be back for the Office?

Kaling will almost certainly not be back next season.

Bummer. And is it true Rainn Wilson will be leaving early on as well? It doesn't seem like there's going to be a ton left.

Rainn Wilson may be getting a Dwight Schrute spinoff show.

James Spader made the decision to leave The Office after one season. He reportedly asked to be released from his contract.

I don't think Dwight cam carry a show as the main character. Wilson as an actor is good enough, but what kind of plots could there be? What will he do without Jim/Pam to antagonize him.

Well his show is apparently about his beat farm, so it should be significantly different than The Office.

(Sounds like a terrible idea IMO)

I'm not so sure it wasn't he was defined, he was very clearly defined early on, the problem was that the character changed wildly and didn't seem very realistic for consistencies sake..
