Why then should I be subjected to getting the ending spoiled when THIS site has spoiler tags available?

Yes, the game has been out for months now and I have not beat it. I have no right to enter a thread and discuss the game without having it get ruined?

With DVR, DVD, and TiVo these days, people who are behind have the right to not be forced into being subjected into this if say, they were just wondering...

    Spoiler

Because their daughter woke up and they missed that part.

Had they posted that question and viewed the response on the last page, the entire season would have been ruined.

This site has always been GREAT about this. You two stun me.

And the episode aired YESTERDAY. And that's just in America.
I think this site has been horrible when it comes to spoilers. People overuse them here. I had someone a few months ago pm me to yell at me for make a reference to the Wire finale and not using spoilers. The Wire has been off the air for 5 yrs.

Lets use your Wilson example. Lets say that your daughter woke up and you missed that part. (FYI, it was mentioned several times in that episode so that would mean you missed the last 30 minutes of the episode. Also, he has 5 months to live) Well you have several options:

    1. You could watch that part again on Hulu once it becomes available in a week.
    2. You could go to Google and find one of the tens of episode recaps that summarize each episode. Fox's House site has a recap of every episode available.
    3. You could spend a buck an buy the episode from Itunes.

I didnt watch the House finale live so what did I do? I avoided this thread until I watched the finale this morning. This isnt Game of Thrones where most of the material can be found in the books and seasons can be spoiled before they even air. This place is for discussion of the series....not a place to rely on for information that you may have missed. Spolier tagging everything is cumbersome and counter to the purpose of this thread. If you missed something and want to avoid spoilers, avoid this thread.

I'm sorry your frustration with some people's overuse of them are causing you to avoid them all together.

There are few joys this world like a superb ending to a video game or a series finale to your favorite show. If you are bent on stripping people that joy because they want to have a disussion in a discussion thread...

I can only hope someone ruins something for you someday.

I specifically discuss non-sports related things on here because of how careful and respectful OS' members are regarding the tenderness of endings. I skip the game specific sites to talk about "The Walking Dead" video game on OS because (A) I like posting my impressions and questions on Internet boards (I mean, after all, you must too because you belong to and post here) and (B) OS has the best members around.

Not ONE person didn't use tags when I was a MILE behind everyone else in THAT thread. I was stuck on one part and some great person helped me out of a bind. Ending NOT ruined!

They've help me understand things greatly that otherwise would have lost me.

But no. People discussing season 8 in a season 8 discussion thread should just assume even if they just started watching episode 1 today, that the whole season has to be ruined because they were a few months behind. This is proposterous.

The thread title says nothing about "the ending." And spoiler tags are the norm around here.

So I guess, once one person beats a video game (even on release day) that thread has to be off limits to everyone else because they should just know better otherwise they were just plain dumb and asked to know the ending, even though the game is still in the shrink wrap for most people.

      Am I understanding you correctly?

I didn't watch House last night. I watched it over Hulu this morning. Im on OS a lot through tapatalk. I knew to avoid this thread until then. People can take that same kind of responsibility. I was wondering why people were putting their ideas in spoilers.

So I guess according to you, once one person beats a video game (even on release day) that thread has to be off limits to everyone else because they should just know better otherwise they were just plain dumb and asked to know the ending, even though the game is still in the shrink wrap for most people.

I'm actually shocked this is even an discussion. Its a question of what is reasonable.

I never said I avoid them all together. If I read the Game of Thrones books, know how Season 2 is going to end and realize that season 2 of the season is still ongoing....I will use a spoiler tag if I'm going to discuss the season ending.

If you cherish endings so much, you would either 1) watch the ending when it airs or 2) avoid a thread discussing THE ENTIRE SEASON (including the finale) until I watched the entire season. The fact that you feel that people who watched the entire season when it aired are obligated to take an extra step to discuss the season because you failed to watch the entire season when it aired is ridiculous. Thats not reasonable.

Also, no one is coming to this thread to discuss episode 2 when most people are discussing the finale. If you are on episode 2, you can either tread carefully when it comes to reading the thread and only read as far as you have gotten with the show or....you can avoid the thread until you've caught up.

As an admin on this site, I could care less either way. If people want to use spoiler posts thats fine. If not, thats fine. I'm not going to use them when they arent appropriate and if the episode aired they arent appropriate because for most of the people.....they've already seen the episode.

Well, maybe this is just the nature of the entertainment section on OS. In the video game sections, this NEVER happens.

I'll just be sure to avoid discussing my favorite shows on OS from now on as I'm usually too busy to be current.

Exactly. I see people speculating and guessing what happened and putting spolier links up.

Should we do the same for Sports? I'm not planning to watch the Heat game tonight. I'm going to watch it on my DVR in the morning so everyone who posts in the Eastern Conference Playoffs thread should spoiler tag that thread because I want to discuss the game while I'm watching it and dont want to be spoiled.

If I have a video game related question, and other people have beaten it, how would you suggest I go about getting the help I needed without exposing myself to the ending?

Are tv shows and video games that different for what an acceptable time for being up to date is?

Go into the non sports game section, plenty of examples. It's something like this:

"I'm stuck on this level, any help?"

                  Spoiler

Then someone will quote that and put their answer in spoilers.

I use spoiler tags but am not crazy about them. They "spoil" the continuity of the discussion, and I respectfully question why anybody who hasn't seen the finale or is 8 episodes behind comes into the thread or just doesn't comment at the end and wait for a direct response. I'm not criticizing , just don't understand. I've been enlightened by OS posters to several terrific TV shows (The Wire, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad to name a few) and have never suffered from any spoiler shock.

On another note I feel kind of guilty for not seeing this series all the way through. I was disappointed that Cutty and Amber Tamblyn's character left, but I've been inconsistent with my watching of the show.

The final ending was great, but the show as a whole tried to hard to analyze the mind of House from within, and I wasn't crazy about how they did it.

It was a hypothetical question, posed moreso to make a point about not forcing myself to be exposed to an ending when I'm not current.

Any questions I ask automatically get placed on the bottom of the last page, where the likelyhood of endings being discussed are the highest.

I've come to expect spoilers for ALL shows and games, regardless of how old the media is, AS FAR AS ENDINGS are concerned on OS.

Can't believe this issue is even up for debate. I thought it went without saying that endings should always be warned about before hand. Even doing a Google search on House's ending resulted in EVERY PAGE I saw with HUGE SPOILER warnings. Aparrently I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree and get this thread back on topic.

                        Take care, guys.

If you have the time and the means to get current, you absolutely should. Definitely one of the most brilliant shows I've ever seen.

We've never required people spoiler tags for TV shows on this site. Movies and videogames, yes because people experience those at different times. People will go into movie and video game threads to see if that movie/game is worth seeing/buying. People are at different points in a game also at any time.

Once the TV show airs its fair game. Why would you go into the House thread the night/morning after the series finale and read it if you haven't watched it yet. I didn't watch it until tonight and purposely stayed out of the thread. It's not like its a game/movie where you go in to see if its worth spending money on. If we required spoilers every single post in this thread would be a spoiler tag. If you're that interested in a show you are going to be watching all the episodes already, its not like you would go into the thread before you watch it to ask if the episode was good and worth watching.

As for the show I thought most of the episode was alright, but it didn't stand up to some of the other season finales from past years. The last 10 minutes were great though, especially with everyone giving eulogies for House. After him saying earlier in the episode that he had no one else once Wilson was gone, it shows how many of his friends/colleagues care about him. The whole dental records switching was a little farfetched, but I'll let it slide.

Sad to see the show go off the air, but the last couple of seasons were not especially great IMO. That said, I didn't really like the end. Don't know if there is/was another direction the could've taken things so I don't fault them for that. I'm glad House stayed out of jail. Chase as head of diagnostics? (how many cases has he actually solved over the years.)

Also, I was a little shocked there was no Cuddy return, even if just as a hallucination. I understand that she probably wouldn't come to his funeral after he almost killed her child, but....

So now that it is over, what were some of everyone's favorite cases/episodes?

For me my was the episode "Insensitive". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insensitive_%28House%29) Something about how they took that tapeworm out of her at the end has stuck with me all these years.

Where they had the King/Dictator (?)(James Earl Jones). By far my favorite. It was very intense and played on the emotions well.
