As far as metal goes, I could take it or leave it, really. Some of it's really good like the old school Thrash Metal, the early Heavy Metal, even some of the Hair Metal movement was good as is some of the more recent metal (and I suppose you could classify a lot of what I listen to as being metal, but I really don't call it that. To me it's just rock, when you get into that death metal, etc, that's when I start to say it's metal, but I still consider metal to be a part of rock) but most of it, I just can't get into.

Grew up on "Smash" and "Ixnay on the Hombre" albums. Great punk rock. After "Americana" they have fallen off a bit but still a few good singles per album since. They'll always have a spot on my collection. Didn't know thy had new material coming out. That's awesome.

With recent albums the radio singles have usually been the duds on the album hahaha. I still enjoy pretty much everything they've put out though. Was introduced to them through Smash in 1995 but lost interest after awhile and didn't become a real big fan until 1999 when my older sister was given a cassette by her (then) boyfriend that had Smash on one side and Ixnay on the other, as well as the fact Americana had just hit it big at around the same time haha. Then I was hooked for life. I was 12 going on 13 at the time. I've been a big rock music fan since I was about 8 years old when my sister got me my first ever CD for Christmas in 1994, which was Weezer's Blue album. Within the next year or so I became obsessed with Nirvana, as well as the fact my sister was big into the Beatles in 1995, which is where my taste in rock music really started off. Nice having a sister that's 5 years older that got me into good music at a young age.

Rise and Fall, or whatever they called their last album was surprisingly good. Reminded me more of Smash than the other garbage they put out.

Yes I like the new Dragonforce as well. I just picked up the new Jeff Loomis - Plains of Oblivion album, excellent album.

I've also heard the song Cruising California (Bumping in My Trunk), which is easily the poppiest thing they've ever done. Sounds like Top 40 material. However, I actually find it kind of catchy hahaha, and I can't stand this era's Top 40 music.
Sounds like this album's "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)."

I enjoyed that, a lot more than this.

I used to be into punk rock, now I'm more into the spawns of punk, specifically pop-punk. Just a lighter, more fun upbeat version of punk rock. There's a **** ton of good music out there in this genre, and I'm just discovering a lot of it. Owe that to Spotify and TurnTable.fm. Those places have been music discovery gold for me.

Still, my favorite band is Funeral for a Friend. It's hard to separate bands into genres now, but I'd put them under the post-hardcore/punk/rock category if I had to. They're great, though. Some of the best riffs. Anyone in to that type of music should definitely give them a listen.

Actually just getting into this band Polar Bear Club. Raspy vocals similar to early Rise Against, with a definite punk-rock feel to it with hints of pop-punk. Right up my alley.

I still think Finch was the most innovative of that genre after At The Drive-In. Unfortunately, everyone wanted another pop album from them, while they wanted to actually do something different. Say Hello to Sunshine and their final EP are incredible.

Most people hold Finch dear to their heart for their first album. I wasn't big on album #2 but I probably would listen now. I did like a few initially but never gave it an extended play.

That's because they started with a pop screamo album that fit with everything else out there at the time. I liked it, but I thought their later stuff was brilliant. Reminded me of ATDI, Far, and Hum, three of my all time favorite bands.

it's a shame that Finch broke up again before finishing their 3rd album.
