I've actually been getting into their music lately... them and 500 Miles to Memphis. TBH, I started as a country fan before getting into rock and had absolutely no idea that there were so many bands that did a bit of both and did it as well as these two.

Re: Official Rock music thread
It sucks that you avoid conversations like this just because of that reason. Honestly, we all have different tastes, even if some of us move away from pure rock. Music to me is liking what you listen to. Anyone who judges you because you like a band are stupid.

Re: Official Rock music thread
I don't necessarily avoid them altogether... I just avoid mentioning certain bands. And I completely agree. What annoys me are the holier-than-thou types that judge you just because the bands you like are popular. I can't stand that... and as far as Nickelback goes, I don't blame you. They aren't at all interesting to listen to, IMO. I can handle them in very small doses, but if I try to listen to 3 or 4 of their songs in a row it's just brutal to listen to... like listening to the same song over and over with different words... but TBH, there is much worse "music" out there (looking at you, Bieber.).

Re: Official Rock music thread
The Nickelback thing was mainly a joke. They're not really my thing. I've kind of taken a left turn from where I started: Foo Fighters/Weezer to where I'm listening to a lot of stuff like Fun., Gotye, Neon Trees, Two Door Cinema Club, etc.

Re: Official Rock music thread
I almost hate to hop into discussions like this one, because the means by which I hear most of the music I listen to is the radio, which means that most of what I listen to is frowned upon by other rock people as being too "mainstream." I personally don't buy into that whole argument. So, just keep that in mind as I give you my list of favorite bands:
Metallica
Nirvana
Alice In Chains
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Megadeth
Smashing Pumpkins
Avenged Sevenfold- this is where people start to judge...
Bullet For My Valentine- I hear you judging me silently through your computer.
Red
Skillet
Thousand Foot Krutch
Pillar
Anberlin
Incubus
Led Zeppelin
Def Lepperd
All That Remains
Art of Dying
Bush
Just to name a few.... go ahead, pan me all you want.

Re: Official Rock music thread
Jack White's new album is out today. Its free to listen on Spotify. I'll be seeing Rodrigo Y Gabriela on Thursday hopefully.
Also, Flea's "side band" RocketJuice and the Moon is pretty tight. Very funky, very groovy, and a little trippy.
