Rodrigo y Gabriela are awesome! I still remember the first time I heard them. It was when they had the superbowl in Arizona a few years back. They were on cold pizza I think.

Just got back from a concert starring Shinedown, who rocked my face off and maybe made my ears bleed a bit, I'm not sure yet. Several thousand people screaming all the words to "Simple Man" in unison with nothing but a guitar backing was pretty awesome. (yes, I know that's a Skynyrd song)

They were supported by Adelitas Way, who were alright, and Art of Dying, who were a bit more enjoyable for me. I had heard of neither before the show started, but I'm probably going to check them out.

Art of Dying is one of my favorites, although the lead singers voice doesn't match his face. Still a great band though.

Adelita's Way is also pretty good... never heard them in concert, but their albums are pretty solid though, definitely worth checking out.

Very good live band as well. Caught them at the beginning of their Goodbye to the Machine tour and they even made that album sound good, lol.

So I've decided to try to broaden my musical tastes recently... as I mentioned before, I've been checking out Alternative Country and it has kind of inspired me to check out some other genres that I haven't thought to try out (I mentioned what I mostly listen to currently, just want to check out some other genres that I haven't before)... so, anyone got any suggestions as far as some genres/bands to check out?

Have you ever listened to Lucero? They're kind of alternative country. And I always recommend Our Lady Peace cause they are such a great band haha

I have not heard of either. I'll have to check them out. Any other good bands that you guys listen to from some different rock genres?

Between The Buried And Me is probably the most talented band on the planet right now. For anyone that likes Progressive Metal.

Listened to Lucero and Our Lady Peace and I am impressed. I'll have to listen to a bit more of them. Our Lady Peace isn't too much different from what I normally listen to, so the transition to their style wasn't too difficult. With Lucero, it took me listening to a few songs before they started to grow on me, but I like their style. I'll have to listen to more of them. As for Between the Buried and Me, I'm not a huge fan of their style. Their instrumentalists (especially their guitarist) sounded extremely talented, but I couldn't hear them well enough to appreciate it because of the vocalist. Not a fan of their vocals. Not sure why, normally that's not something I mind too much, but I just couldn't get into it. Thanks for the suggestions though guys and absolutely keep them coming.

I can definitely see why people can't get into his vocals but he also has an amazing singing voice he uses in most songs. He has a side solo project called "Thomas Giles" and he released an album called Pulse and it definitely has an Radiohead vibe to it.

What song(s) did you listen to? I was surprised to see them named in the rock thread, I remember listening to their early albums and they were pretty heavy, the scream vocals bordered on death metal. They were the first band I'd ever heard go from near guttural screams to progressive clean singing... in the same song lol. The song Mordecai blew my mind, I don't recommend it for people that don't like that vocal style though.
