For all intensive purposes, in my opinion, Billy Corgan IS Smashing Pumpkins. Wretzky is living on a farm, Iha is doing his own thing with A Perfect Circle, and Chamberlain had initially come back into the band for the reuninion but left a few years later. Corgan can use the name if he wishes in my opinion.

My boy saw 'em a week or two ago. He didn't know they were going on hiatus til I told him. For shame!

Corgan is the driving force behind Pumpkins, but I just don't feel it's the same without anyone else from the original lineup. I understand have A member to replace, but an entire lineup? He probably owns the rights to the name, however he's using it right now because he knows he won't sell records unless he does.

              His solo album was awful.

Blackberry Smoke...Country-fied southern rock. Not bad, but I wouldn't say great either. Kind feels like a really good bar band.

Yeah, that's about how I feel. I saw they were playing at one of my go-to venues and checked them out. They have a very, very 70s southern rock sound. The guys vocals are a little too clean for me and the lyrics - well they aren't anything special and sometimes I feel like they're saying things just to appease the right side of the South. Overall a good sound, but too clean and polished for me for a southern rock band.

The lead singer's side burns are crazy, though haha.

Fantastic album. Even better than Post-Nothing, which was great. I'm amazed that two guys can pack songs full of so many things I love about rock music.

Yeah, I'm fairly new to them. I wish the new album was a little longer, but it really is a great album. It definitely grabs you more than anything else I've heard so far this year.

The new Chris Robinson Brotherhood album came out yesterday. I'm not sure who all is a Black Crowes or Robinson fan, but I'll have to pick it up ASAP. I've listened to it once so far and its really impressed me.

Muse has a new album coming out.

Never really been a huge Muse fan. I like some of their stuff, really liked the Resistance album. I was somewhat looking forward to their new album.

Hopefully it's more like the first two-thirds of that video than the last third.

If you like them, you should check out Attack on Memory by Cloud Nothings. It's a little more 90s college radio in its lo-fi sound, but has a similar combo of having melodic tunes that rock pretty hard (except for the quiet opening track). Those two albums are my favorites of the year by a lot.

Thing that has bothered me most about the Muse is that they've never really had their own sound. When they started, they sounded like Radiohead knockoffs, now they are a U2/Queen mutation. They have some good stuff, but they aren't must owns for me.

I don't mind a band keeping the name with only 1 original member, as long as that member is the vocalist. I hate when metal bands completely change lineups twice over, with new members all around, and still use the original name just to sell more albums. Haste the Day comes to mind (RIP) although I think the bassist stayed throughout.
