Anyone heard the new Green Day song yet?:

Dunno how I feel about it.

To this day I still think Nimrod was their best album.

Just found out The Wallflowers have a new album coming out in October. New song is interesting, and it features Mick Jones from The Clash:

Kinda bums me that this thread isn't as popular as the Rap/hip-hop thread.

Other than Run DMC, Public Enemy, and the Beastie Boys, I can't stand most rap or hip-hop.

Probably because rock artists don't release "mixtapes" with 20 brand new songs every week. Not hating on rappers because what they do takes talent that I don't possess. It seems like that thread is for reviewing those mixtapes for the most part. Personally, I would rather wait for an album for months that to have it just available for a free download every time I refresh my browser.

The rap thread is significantly older IIRC. Plus there's been a wide range of bands brought up in here, so I imagine its harder for a more concise conversation to take place.

So I listened to the new 10 Years cd, hoping for something refreshing from them and I got another Chevelle. It's bad enough that so many groups release basically the same album over and over, but it really bugs me when a group can't find it's own sound in any way. Their last cd felt forced, but at least it was an attempt to create their own sound.

I've enjoyed Green Day's more recent stuff more than most, seemingly, but I'm not sure if I enjoy this new song but so much, unfortunately.

I like their latest. Especially Knives, Minus the Machine and Dancing with the Dead.

                        I'm a huge 10 Years fan though.

That's because, at least in my opinion, rock music takes more time and effort to create than most rap and hip-hop.

                            Re: Official Rock music thread

Plus, rock artists rarely take shots at each other, so there isn't as much to debate.

I'm disappointed with today's rock in general, I never listen to the radio anymore and have become way more of a metalhead. I grew up in the 90s when rock was great, now it almost annoys me.

I see all these bands listed that I've never heard of and it's because there is no radio station in my area that plays them. The only rock station here plays the same songs from the same bands over and over, which is why I don't bother tuning in anymore unless the cd player in my car won't read my driving mix.

It's amazing to me how many high quality musical genres don't have a place on radio, unless you have satellite/sirius. But I don't do internet radio either so I'm sure that's the spot. The only way I find out about new stuff is by checking out the leak sites and searching for the bands on youtube.

I don't even remember what the goal of this post was, I think I went off the tracks somewhere.

You and I are in the same situation. I don't know if my tastes changed that much or that rock in general sucks these days. I would much rather listen to lamb of god, Sevendust and Megadeth over and over than run the risk of hearing anything Nickelback related or "little supernovas in my head..." That song plays literally every time I turn on the radio.
