The new Propaghandi album is pretty solid. Really strong album for them, but not their best IMO.

Re: Official Rock music thread
So, get to see Jack White a couple days when I get back from vacation. I am totally stoked. I'm a little bummed I didn't get a chance to pick up Avett Brothers tickets (they sold out and its not even a month away yet), but whatever. The fall is shaping up to be a pretty nice concert season around here.

I'm a big fan of Less Talk, More Rock, and Today's Empire, Tomorrow's Ashes. Those are the two that bring the best memories of them.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

This band has really grown and come together nicely over the last couple albums, and I am very excited to give the new one a listen in a couple hours here.Comment

Re: Official Rock music thread
See, I don't think those albums (especially Less Talk, More Rock/How to Clean Everything) have aged well at all. I used to love Less Talk, More Rock, but it's just one of those things where I just kind of got over a lot of the angst that album brought out. Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes definitely has some great songs, but as an overall album, it's very 'meh' to me. It's kind of weird because I love the songwriting John K. Samson does with The Weakerthans, but after he left Propagandhi they got progressively better.

Anyway, The Weakerthans are a completely different band. More straight alternative rock with some pop-punkish stuff in some songs. And great lyrics.Comment

I just looked at my iTunes, and saw one Weakerthans song, from a Punk-o-rama compilation. It's pretty solid. I really should look into them.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: Official Rock music thread
Anybody heard of Dikes of Holland? They're from Texas. They're a punk band along the lines of Ramones, X, and The Cramps. Pretty good from what I heard when I saw them open for Black Joe Lewis on Monday night.

Talking Heads fans: David Bryne has a new album out that he did with St Vincent (she released an amazing album last year) and its streaming on Spotify.
