Hot Water Music and The Gaslight Anthem.

My two friends and I both thought HWM were terrible. TGA were really really good.

I like Hot Water Music's music but have not seen them live. Love The Gaslight Anthem and saw them in late July and they were great.

I like the solo stuff from the singer of HWM. His name is mysteriously es,aping me right now and that's really pissing me off right now.

Decent show not big on those bands besides Rise Against. Do they still play their older tracks, from Revolutions Per Minute album?

What I've been listening to the past few days (band/album):

With the Punches - Seams & Stitches
A Loss For Words - No Sanctuary
The Starting Line - Say It Like You Mean It
            Save Your Breath - Vices
            Such Gold - Misadventure
            Handguns - Angst

If I were to describe to people my favorite type of music, this would be the list I'd direct them to. Pop-punk for life! Nah, I'm a sucker for sweet riffs, a big sound, good lyrics. All these bands fit the bill. A couple new releases in here, some from last year, and The Starting Line has been around forever.

Jack White concert is Thursday, but I haven't received my tickets yet. I'm getting a little antsy.

Yeah so I haven't seen this mentioned in here and it's a great local band from Cleveland. I think I've posted this band on this website before but damn if I can't get enough of them:

                  Re: Official Rock music thread

                  New Muse album has leaked.

Early thoughts....first song is AWESOME, second song might be the worst song they've recorded, third song is so damn cool.

EDIT: Guitar in Song 7 is straight up incredible.

EDIT: Song 8 is stupid and unnecessary.

EDIT: Song 9....meh. Out of place and unnecessary.

EDIT: Pretty sure Song 10 was supposed to go on a Coldplay album.

EDIT: Thank goodness Song 11 is quicker and a bit heavier. No surprise it's MUCH better than the three songs preceding it.

EDIT: Song 12 was well on its way to being the best song on the album. Until 1:30 hit.

                  EDIT: Song 13.....wow

Overall, meh. Some damn good songs but the awfulness of the awful ones really harm it overall. Would it kill these guys to put another "Showbiz", "Muscle Museum", "Dark Shines", "City of Delusion", etc on their damn album?!

I must say I actually like the song "Madness" on the new Muse album.

                      Explorers ain't that bad either.

I, for one, was never one to hate softer songs by a heavier band. Sometimes they are some of my favorite songs by them haha.

As for track 12 (The 2nd Law: Unsustainable)... DUBSTEP!? WHYYYYY!!????

Liking the Muse album as well. Particularly "Panic Station". It's so bubblegum / funk it hurts.

I also like The Killers' new album "Battle Born", but it tails off in the back half until the title track to close the record.

Seems to be a trend for The Killers. I felt the same way about their debut album until the last song haha. And they kinda lost me on their last record. Their new song on the radio sounds Gaslight Anthem-ish to me (which is a good thing). Haven't listened to the rest of the album yet.

I actually thought Sam's Town (follow-up to Hot Fuss) was solid all the way through, but yeah it is a trend for them. It took me a full two years to really get into Day and Age, but A Dustland Fairytale from that record is one of the best songs they've ever recorded IMO.

Everything they've done since Hot Fuss has been in a more Springsteen-esque American rock direction. They do it well, and I enjoy it, but I know a lot of people want another Hot Fuss. I don't think they could recapture that lightning in a bottle if they tried, however.

While I like The Killers, If I want Springsteen-ish rock, I'm more inclined to listen to The Gaslight Anthem. I still think Mr. Brightside is when The Killers were at their best.
