For all you blues-rock guys out there check out Gary Clark Jr's major label debut. It's pretty damn good.

I know we have some Gaslight Anthem fans here, but has anybody listened to Brian Fallon's side project, The Horrible Crowes? I'm currently listening to their Elsie album. Good stuff. A little bit less of an edge than Gaslight has, a bit cleaner vocals, but still really good.

Brand New's "Your Favorite Weapon" album kick recently. They've shot up my last.fm charts on that album alone. I'm not too big into them otherwise. Really wish they would've stuck with that vein of music because they did it great. And I bet they still could despite the over saturation of similar bands these days.

I just received this picture book called "A Year As A Ghost" detailing The Wonder Years' last year on tour. Included lyric notes and tons of wacky pictures showing their tour hijinks and song inspirations. Blasted through like half of it last night, obviously while rocking out to their music.

Those dudes are so real. It always shone through in their lyrics and sound, but seeing pictures of places they've described/referenced within their song just makes it all come alive. I've never actually heard someone say a bad thing about them. It's a bonus that they're relatively local to me, from Lansdale, PA.

Best $25 I ever spent and 5 month wait I ever waited. And got a free rare b-sides download code. S-s-s-score!

I love Brand New's earlier stuff. The Deja Entendu album is actually really good as well, in my opinion. But, Sudden Death in Carolina... such a great song. I could listen to that song over and over and not get sick of it.

Can't stand Your Favorite Weapon, but like everything else. Jesse has been quoted saying the band plans to return to more of the sound they had on Deja Entendu and that Daisy was a bit extreme.

...And you Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead....or just Trail of Dead, got a new album out soon and so far it sounds like they're back to their earlier experimental sound that made me like them in the first place. They kinda lost me after Source Tags and Codes, with only a few likeable songs since, but this new song Catatonic caught my ear again and I may just have to check it out.

Deja was by far their best IMO. The Devil and God was second. I liked Your Favorite Weapon when it came out, but as they progressed, I grew to dislike it. I still don't know how I felt about Daisy.

I was pretty high on Brand New until I saw them live. I heard they put on a great show, but when I went, they were awful. One of only three shows that I've walked out of.

I went through the All That Remains album again tonight, I need to retract my previous comment about weakness. Somehow the heavy moments must've escaped my ears, solid album.

Thing about daisy is they seem to scream for the sake of screaming and it gets annoying. Especially when the song itself is good.

                              Re: Brand New

I'm in to that pop-punk sound they had with YFW, so that's why it appeals to me most of their albums. I think Deja was a great mix of the direction they were going and what they were coming from. The Devil & God was the transition album from that Deja sound to what Daisy ended up as. Some of their best songs came from The Devil & God, but it wasn't as complete as the previous two releases. I kinda feel like Brand New built this reputation as a band that grew but kept most of their fans, and they needed to hold up that rep with Daisy, but I think it went too extreme. I must admit, I haven't listened to it too much, but I know it won't touch their previous releases even if it does grow on me.

My favorite BN song is actually "Moshi Moshi" which was on a split EP and not a major release.

Good to hear they'll be back to a Deja style. Jesse gets a ton of credit and he deserves it for being a creative genius, but the whole band is really talented. I have a soft spot for backup vocals, and I don't think their backup vocalist Vinny Accardi gets enough love... LOVE when he chimes in. I believe it's him in "Sowing Season" with the line, "I am not your friend, I am just a man who knows how to feel, I am not your friend, I am not your lover, I'm not your family, Yeah!" Probably my favorite lyric from BN.
