Re: Official Rock music thread
If Fall Out Boy made an album that sounded like "Take This To Your Grave" or "From Under the Cork Tree", it would sound like State Champs' "The Finer Things." Love this album, could be my favorite of the year. There were some pretty great releases this year.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

I guess those type of vocals kill your throat, he probably couldn't keep it up. But it's pretty much completely gone, this is more radical then Rise Against's gradual change.
Probably my biggest disappointment of the year. It almost feels unfair, because musically the rest is fine, it's just losing that one piece that made it stand out.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Official Rock music thread
All that said, Bayside has announced their 6th album, finally entitled, "Cult"
Can't wait. The most solid band of the past 10 years. Never a let down. First single off it, same old Bayside. Awesome.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Official Rock music thread
Streaming the new album now... I can hear it on some notes, but it's just not always there. It almost sounds like a completely new vocalist. Like when bands replace their lead, but try to keep it somewhat similar. If I didn't know better, I'd say that's what happened to Polar Bear Club.

I don't hate it. In fact, I really like it as an album, and to be honest, if the cover said anything other than "Polar Bear Club" in the band name slot, I'd love it and it'd be one of my favorites of the year. But, as it stands, it's a fine album, but, at the same time, a major disappointment.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Official Rock music thread
Explanation: http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthre...medium=twitter
Basically, it was a voice change as I suspected. That sucks, but it weirdly made me want to go back and listen again. I do think the music has changed a lot though. Apparently, they had to replace practically the whole band leading up to this record. It all makes sense now. If I can disassociate their old stuff with this new one, I think I will be able to enjoy it more. There are only a few bands that I've said the old cliche that the old stuff is better than the new (All Time Low, I'm looking at you...), so I'm not one of those people. It wasn't just the old stuff though, that raspy vocal style was just such a nice throwback.

Re: Official Rock music thread
I enjoy watching TMS with Eddie Trunk. He brought back in the public, Jake E. Lee, after tracking him down in Vegas.
Jake E. Lee was the lead guitarist on a couple of albums in the early 80's after Randy Rhodes died. Jake had big shoes to fill. He's a bit miffed at Ozzy and Co because he wrote some songs on Bark at the Moon and has never received credit for them. He doesn't want the money, just the credit.
So, Jake formed a band and this is the first song released. Band is Red Dragon Cartel and Feeder is the first song. He has a few guest vocalist and this is one of them, Robin Zander from Cheap Trick.
NSFW as their is a bad lyric that is publicized and sung.
The album comes out in late January. Thoughts?
