Re: Amazon Kindle Fire (Amazon Tablet)

Anybody know the situation with reassigning devices to another account?

I purchased both Fires for my siblings under my Amazon account and both show up as registered devices under my account.

My concern is they'll download videos, music, whatever and it'll only come up in my account's cloud. Or will this be resolved when they are forced to register/login with an account to purchase services?

I got an email before mine was even delivered saying I could deregister them on the Amazon site if it was a gift.

Oh, to have your money...I mean both new e-reader/tablets, buying and re-buying consoles multiple times, etc. I salute you, sir!

You realize of course that stuff you buy for the Fire won't be compatible with the Nook, and vice versa, right? Amazon's media stuff is just as protected as the Apple cult. Most of us can only afford buying a book from one e-store, even if you may be able to run a "Kindle" app.

[have yet to see a "Nook Book" app.]

Oh I know, I had the nook color a while back and rooted, thats why I prefer the nook tablet, so down the line I can root.

According to this we can have the best of both worlds with the nook, just stumbled on this last night.

The Nook tablet isn't as easy to root, however. BN used a locked bootloader, unlike the Nook color which was ridiculously easy.

Re: Amazon Kindle Fire (Amazon Tablet)

I'm thinking of getting my wife a Tablet for Christmas - mainly as an eReader.

I've researched all of them and it seems that the Nook Tablet is better than the Fire. Especially since I live in Canada and the Fire is kind of hampered by downloads in other countries.
Nook also has more horsepower and I've read that the Fire's power button is in a bad spot and will cause people to constantly shut it off without meaning to.
It's also been said by others that the Tablet is smoother and has a more responsive screen.

However, I just read that CDN Walmarts will be selling the Blackberry Playbook (16GB) for $198 this weekend.
From what I've read, the Playbook is closer to what the iPad is and is more than just an eReader.
                        I might get that instead.

Depends what your budget is. If you wait 'till Black Firday/Cyber Monday, I am sure you can find one of the 'powerful' android tabs for $250-300.

$200 is already above my limit, lol. So I think I'll go with the Playbook.

You can now install the Android Marketplace (after root) and install Google apps!

Warning, so far doing this will disable Amazon Streaming.
