Nice. They actually told me about a guy that went in at night and wired his home theater. They uninstalled it.

I haven't, but I'll have to check that out. I suppose this is a good problem to have with so many good sub choices, figure I can't go wrong no matter what I get.

I believe it has something to do with the homes warranty. If anything happens it technically would be on them. However, any home theater installer should be trained to pre-wire homes. I know our agents do pre-wires all the time for new constructions and 5 speaker pre-wire is only $100-$200 depending on the room, that includes the speaker wire.

That's what the guy said today--I can't make any 3rd party changes until I close and get the keys in my hand.

$100 to 200 sounds reasonable. In my case, hoping the Sonos speakers deliver. Went ahead and picked up another Play 5.

          I'm thinking:
          Play 5 in living room
          Play 3 in kitchen
          Play 3 in my bedroom
Play 5 in the sitting room on the 2nd floor (so it can be heard by all 3 bedrooms and when I'm doing the laundry)

You shouldn't be disappointed. Sonos sounds great, their just more expensive for a whole house than $50 in ceiling speakers on Amazon. Sonos blows any in ceiling or in wall speaker away unless you go high end speakers. They're also really addicting. Most people can't help but add more.

Dunno where my camera is, so I just snapped webcam pics for now of my setup in our new house. Still obviously working on it though, but there are the new speakers and sub!

This stuff always looks much more spacious in pics, and of course also makes everything look smaller haha.

Got a chance to play with the Sonos speakers today. Very impressed. They do exactly what they claim. Simple setup and seamless controls. Took less than 10 minutes to setup all 4 speakers after unboxing. First, I controlled them with my Windows PC....then downloaded the app and used the Nexus 7....then downloaded and used the app on a Moto G smart phone.

Sound quality is very good. A Play 3 fills a small room easily and a Play 5 fills a large room pretty well. We have spotty wireless in my parent's house, but the Sonos speakers make their own mesh network and never had a single drop out.

It comes down to just one thing. Price. They ain't cheap. I spent a little over $1K buying used (Got the Play 3's for $210 each and the Play 5's for $315 each and $20 for the wireless bridge)

I guess you could do something similar using AirPlay and some Airport Expresses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJj9CGFVHRk

Finished off my Sonos system. Picked up a Sonos Connect for my Polk surround sound system. Saved $50 (or $80 if you figure in taxes)

                      Blzer,
You know that wall looks perfect for a 100-110 inch picture using a 1080p Projector.

                        Re: The Audiophile Thread

Ha thanks, but I promise you that wall looks massive in the photo and you really don't feel it at all in real life. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact I'm a lot closer to my TV than it looks. I mean it's a 12' viewing distance which isn't as close as it used to be (7-8'), but from this shot it looks more like 20' haha.

The second thing is... that big of a screen wouldn't really fit. That's a 60" screen right now. Not that it won't fit with wall space (and technically it wouldn't if you still want tower fronts and that sub in that location), but any farther to the left, and you're actually taking away the symmetry of that part of the room. The TV should actually probably be 6" more to its left (to the right) to feel "centered" with the room.

Plus, while I like to do movie stuff with this, it wouldn't feel right here. It's our living room first and a projector would just feel so off. I love the idea of it, though!

By the way, with mom out of the house earlier I decided to pop in Transformers: Age of Extinction. I'm still playing with going between 16Hz and Sealed ported tuning. I'd love to go with 16Hz because of some moments that I was concerned about my china cabinet for (and had to remove that clock for ), but I don't think the room's acoustics and my sub placement are as set for 16Hz. Sealed mode is punchier, sometimes too punchy... but for about 99% of content it is probably optimal for the room itself. Anyway, what did I want to say? Oh yeah... what a demo disc! My new favorite scene of that movie is the first one with Galvatron, simply because of what kinds of sounds are played in that scene!

Understood. I still haven't decided on where I'm going to set up my Acer Projector (living room vs. bedroom)

What do you have your sub's crossover set at? Looking forward to running Transformers: AoE and Pacific Rim again once I get moved.

80Hz. I might try 60Hz at some point (I have tried it, but not with Transformers), but I don't want to screw anything up in my RC-62 II. I believe they always suggest at least one octave higher than the minimum frequency response of the speaker, and I believe it's rated at 57Hz? I'll have to check on that again.

But everything is leveled at 75dB right now. I haven't tried to calibrate it at all or anything yet (don't have the mic), so I wonder what else I can get out of this. Only thing I can't do is run things at reference levels. Neighbors would get pissed.

I really want to give 16Hz more of a chance, but normal TV viewing is what gets affected most (gets just a bit too boomy), which is mostly what we watch on this TV.
