    Re: The Audiophile Thread

Look on the back and see if there is some kind of tag with a model number. Should be something somewhere.

    1. What is your budget?
    2. Is that budget for a receiver and sub? Or are you going to go ahead and get three more speakers to complete the 5.1 setup?

I might be wrong on this (authentic and gamec0ck will correct me if I am lol), but wattage probably won't matter. Not in the sense you might be thinking. When you see "1000 watts!!!!" on home theater in a boxes it's being used as a marketing gimmick.

Beware. People who enter this thread tend to go about 10 times over their budget

If my receiver has a blown fuse in a channel output (front right), where could I take it in for repair? How much would that run me to get it fixed?

Note this is from a receiver I haven't touched in four years. I'm just thinking I don't want to trash it for one issue, but I can't sell it either without it being fixed... so I want to do something with it.

Anyone know anything about keyboards? My girlfriend mentioned getting one. So I figure this is the most romantic/practical thing I could get her.

I have my eye on this one - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/yamaha-p...at151600050040
Would end up being about $180 after price matches and cash back.

Reading the answers to questions on Amazon it appears to be a good keyboard, but marketed towards beginners. She played in her younger days, but won't be playing professionally or anything like that.

My dad mentioned he would like some over the ear headphones for Christmas. I have the ATH M50 and love them, but I thought I might look for something that is considered extremely comfortable. Any ideas? Just starting preliminary research. No Beats allowed.

Anymore than that and I am going to go with the ATH M50X bundle that comes with the case ($30ish case) I have if I can't find anything for that price point. Comes out to 95 cents more than the headphones by themselves! So It would be more accurate for me to save I have a $100 budget before I just go with what I know.

*edit* Blah. I let my dad try my ath m50 and he likes how the Beats he tried sit on his ear as opposed to completely over Iike the m50. Might just have to get him a Best Buy gift card so I can safely say I've still never bought Beats.

I think those would be bigger than what he is wanting. I found out it's the Solo HD On-Ears that he was trying out - http://www.amazon.com/Beats-On-Ear-H...7531601&sr=8-2

I might just have to go against all that is good and get him the Beats. I found the ones that were on sale for $79 during Black Friday for $93 through their marketplace. So at least I won't be giving $200 to the machine.

Those solos are some of the worst headphones I ever heard but if your dad likes em that's cool

As far as size, check out youtube vids of people wearing them they aren't very big, comparable to the popular beats from a couple years ago. And as far as sound quality it's a tremendous gap between the two.

You are preaching to the choir. I think I might see how he likes the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear.

Can't go wrong with sennheiser, great headphone company. Great reviews on that model too, I might have to test those out

I love my Sennheiser 280 pros, they are what I use exclusively on my PC for gaming and music. I wish I could get them to produce good sound on the PS4 but they are extremely low and washed out for some reason when plugged into the PS4 controller.

I doubt the PS4 controller produces enough juice to adequately power the headphones.
