Not sure what that means. You're saying that the creators were so good at replicating the 80's that movies like Fast Times AT Ridgemont High or The Last American Virgin feel like this series??

By the way, this is not a defensive post because you didn't love this series. Many times I scratch my head at why a movie or TV show is so popular.

The girl in the Photographs is decent.

Deathgasm. I started it, but my center speaker has been low and I couldn't hear the dialog that great, but it has a Todd and the Book of Pure Evil feel to it.

I'll probably binge Stranger Things this weekend, I'm a big sci-fi fan but dont know how I'll feel about it given that every review and comment talks so much about how well they re-create the 80's and...I wasn't alive so that won't matter to me. Should be interesting. Netflix is doing really well with their Originals though, seems like this one came out of nowhere (to me at least). Good to see that while the networks are trying to squeeze them for every penny.

Honestly they don't stuff 80s nostalgia down your throat. Reference to Atari once but most the stuff they reference was D and D and comicbooks.

GREAT horror sci-fi mixed with friendship adventure with a fantastic soundtrack and theme song. My friend described it as what he wanted in Super 8 but didn't get like he did with Stanger Things. There is a lot of homage to 80s movies but it's subtle and you'll probably see clickbait soon about the easter eggs through out the season.

For me, this show is an instant classic.

I think he is saying that 80's movies aren't very good and we who grew up on 80's movies like this series because it is like the movies we grew up on, even tho they are not very good to him.
That we only like this series because it is like the movies with grew up on.

I would totally agree and disagree! lol
Does part of me like this series so much because I grew up in the 80's and it reminds me of my childhood and the movies I grew up on?
              Yes
But part of that is because the movies I grew up on are so Awesome!
And this series is so Awesome!

I am 5 episodes in and it has me on the edge of my seat every second.
I love everything about this series and I am sure we will see a second season.

Just the way the companies/channels that own the show are negotiating with Netflix. It's my main fear with stuff getting taken off all the time. With Netflix jumping in and making their own shows, the channels that sell the rights to their own are looking at them as a competitor as opposed to an alternative. Im not sure the full implications but you can already see the different services having different exclusives and whatnot, those relicensing deals are going to be more and more expensive as Netflix makes more and more money.

There's an article from about a month ago in the Times called "How Can Netflix Survive in the World It's Created" that explains it much better than I can. Seems like the networks think they deserve the money because it's their content and Netflix thinks they deserve it because it's their service.

Pffff... **** the networks. Let em put more product placement in their shows and how about not paying an actor 1 gazillion dollars / episode.

It's been quiet as a church mouse since then.

Also, a few months after Making a Murderer, the two trial lawyers went around speaking to the public with paid admission to hear them talk about the trial.

And I remember Linda C from ER and she was a hot nurse.
From what I've followed, admittedly through Reddit, she had her appeal deadline pushed to August 29. That's the day to look for.

Also I don't think she's straight appealing but trying to have the conviction just straight up vacated? It's weird. She's still talking lots of **** and I'm optimistic something will come of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if not a whole lot does.

Weirdly, I feel like Netflix must know something about Zellner's plan. Otherwise they greenlit this completely blindly and I don't think they're that dumb.

It's just depends on your taste. The Blacklist, The Flash, Agents of Shield, Mr. Robot, Blindspot, are just a few of the network shows that I think are top notch. So, yeah there is still a lot of quality content that will always be a point of contention between Netflix, Hulu, et al. and the networks.
