What's good to watch on Netflix

We are watching The Haunting of Bly Manor. Not sure why we didn't watch it last year because we absolutely loved Haunting of Hill House (season 1). Bly Manor is...convoluted? The build up is slow and none of the characters are overtly interesting or complicated. The emotional complexity of Hill House is cut out and there's hardly any interpersonal demons to slay. I'm not sure what exactly it is, but it has not pulled us in the way Hill House was able to do.

Bly was certainly…different. No where near as good as Hill House, was disappointed that it was more of a Victorian love story than horror especially after how well I thought he handled Hill House.

Currently watching episode 2 of Flanagan’s passion project “Midnight Mass” that comes out Friday. First episode was good, this one has been as well. Seems like it’ll be much better than Bly was. Can’t wait to binge the rest of the show this weekend.

I think we only have one or two episodes remaining of Bly. Last night we watched the two major exposition episodes. The story about Viola was pretty good even if her acting was flat and a noticably not great English accent.

I definitely agree with your assessment. The focus on doomed lovers isn't as enthralling to me and I feel no empathy for Peter at this point. I feel like almost half of each episode is a slog to get through.

Also, it's distracting to me how much the American babysitter looks like Hillary Duff.

Now that the mechanics have been explained I want to see how these spirits escape or whatever, but at this point I'm good on one viewing.

It's very, very different from Hill House, but if you know the source text that the Bly Manor series is based off of, it's a really impressive and beautifully done story.

It wrapped up fairly well. Dani's story and continuation was interesting to me and far more interesting than the Paul and Jessica storyline they seemed to push much of the narrative. Could have been just not in the mood for a gothic tale, but I felt much of season was spinning tires.

We jumped from that to American Horror Story which I haven't rewatched since it aired on FX. I forgot about Connie Britton. I also didn't realize Taissa was Vera Farmiga's sister either. Jessica Lange is gonna pull me into her spell again.

We flew through Lupin recently. Really fun show and premise; excited for Season 2.

Despite some typical Netflix wokeness that seemed out of place for a series' swan song, I enjoyed Lucifer season 6.

I do wish that we had a bit more time with a few of the characters, but it was Definitely time for it to end.

the send off didn't make much sense. Why did Lucifer have to be absent from Chloe and Rory completely while Amenadiel was able to continue being part of life on earth.

I guess it makes sense in terms of the domains that they oversee, but it just seemed odd that Lucifer would never make it to even meet his daughter

Yep, just finished season one of Lupin myself last night, it's one of my favorite Netflix shows for sure. I appreciate that a lot of the international shows are written in a way where they expect you to pay attention to every scene and if you don't and get lost, that's on you.

Squid Game is going to jump the line of some other shows in my queue, I need to see if the hype is real.

Yep, just finished season one of Lupin myself last night, it's one of my favorite Netflix shows for sure. I appreciate that a lot of the international shows are written in a way where they expect you to pay attention to every scene and if you don't and get lost, that's on you.

I'm 3 or 4 episodes into Squid Game now and it's pretty damn good.

Binged Midnight Mass over a couple days. Wow.

Incredible show. The writing was tremendous and the acting was so well done. I'm going to have to watch again at some point, I'm sure there was a ton of imagery I missed

cancelled already, and I'll never know what the traffic signals were. Why did she cross the street without looking? I watched all season to figure why she didn't look first. The guy that hit her said "oh ****" and drove off, why? Did he hit the wrong person? It's annoying that the whole show has nothing to do with the incident itself and more about the "husband" trying to find answers nonstop to no avail, bleh

I'm 1 episode in, and my anxiety is off the charts, this isn't an easy show to watch if you are a viewer that puts yourself in the place of the characters. I'm gonna give episode 2 a try tonight, but if I have the same anxiety feeling I'll throw in the towel. I don't like giving up on shows early, but the comparison show is "Alice in Borderlands", and that one was a difficult watch for me, so giving up for my own sanity isn't a bad option

It gets much, much, much worse IMO. I was borderline depressed by the end of the season but man, it's so well made. A+ stuff.

My best show on Netflix (change location netflix) right now is Black Mirror because I've been addicted to Black Mirror, it's absolutely fantastic. Every episode is brilliant for different reasons. Watch it!
