Oops, I missed the laptop part of that. Ignore my responses those were for desktops.

Wait for gaming laptops - Intels new chips coming out may make waves in the laptop gaming circles.

      2. You can't do dual cards in a laptop.
Yes you can. Alienware MX18 has dual GTX 675Ms.

Im calling Newegg tomorrow. My best guess is that my Motherboard doesnt work considering I did the paper clip yest to the PSU and it started up. I wish I new someone around here with a nice CPU as well so I could test it on mine to be sure. I just cant figure the damn thing out.

+5 V Standby Power Indicator LED
The +5 V standby power indicator LED shows that power is still present even when thecomputer appears to be off.
        Figure 10
shows the location of the standby power LED.

        CAUTION
If AC power has been switched off and the standby power indicator is still lit,
disconnect the power cord before installing or removing any devices connected to the board. Failure to do so could damage the board and any attached devices.

        Power Supervisor

The Power Supervisor actively monitors the input voltages from the power supply and
protects the board and any attached peripherals from electrical overstress and possible
physical damage. The Power Supervisor will activate if it detects the power supply
voltage rails have deviated outside the current ATX power supply specification and safe
        operating levels.

If the Power Supervisor detects an out of spec voltage, the following will happen:
        1. The board will be powered down immediately to protect circuits from electrical
        overstress and possible physical damage.
        2. A red warning LED on the board will activate as a visual cue.
        3. During the next power on, a message will be
displayed on the screen to notify the user that the power supply voltage rails have deviated outside the current ATX power supply specification and safe operating levels.
        4. A message will be added to the BIOS Event Log for each event that takes place
until the BIOS Event Log is cleared.
While looking back in this thread I noticed that the above bolded part happens. I took pictures of it a couple of pages back.

Did you put it together with the motherboard etc outside of the tower? Did you ever find the spacers/posts? You may have, probably did, short out the motherboard.

These. If you've got your motherboard laying on the metal case, touching metal, then you're shorting it out. It's shutting down as a way of preventing it from frying the mobo, if it hasn't already. Sorry, on the iPhone.

Yeah but I thought someone said the standoffs were built into my motherboard tray. Let me look for the post.

                Edit: Here it is:

The standoffs are built into that motherboard tray, so unfortunately that's not the issue.

If anything the standoffs are built into the case, and the motherboard has some kind of material(not sure of which type) where the standoff touches the actual motherboard. You lay the motherboard on these standoffs, then put a screw threw the motherboard into the standoff. The standoffs might be in a bag somewhere and you have to physically screw them into the case first.

Oh geez, nice quality control Intel. Can't believe it was staring us in the face the entire time, too busy looking at the pins to realize the damn cpu top plate is missing.

Yea Candy tells me his cpu socket looks different than the one on the newegg site. Says it does not have "that metal piece". I never ever seen that before so I asked Candy to send me a pick, sure enough that is what he has lol WOW is all I can say on that one Intel!!! No locking lever FTW

I guess the CPU is not getting seated properly and its causing a power down. When it comes to computers anything and everything can come up as a problem at some point lol. Even something you take for granted being there ha ha ha
