You don't want a dual core.....seriously get a quad. Don't care what kind of quad, any quad would be better then a dual core when it comes to gaming. Dual core is pretty much obsolete in the PC gaming world.

Don't build a PC that is already severely outdated from the get go.

The only advantage the A10 and A8 would have is that you wouldn't need a video card unless you want to play on super high settings. They come with build in graphics that could probably play most games on medium.

Check out the ones that I posted. You can get a motherboard/processor for less than $100 and they are pretty much on par with the i3 (maybe a little bit worse).

And I have 2 plugs into my video card coming from the PCI-E slot in my PSU.

Cant tell since it only turns on for a split second.

Edit: First make sure both the 24 pin power cable and 8 pin power cable are fully seated on the motherboard, then try the following.

Ok, try this, detatch every cable from your MB except the CPU fan, the 8 pin CPU power cable and the 24 pin power cable. That means removing the GPU (use intel graphics), removing all sata cables, unplug power from all drives, remove all case headers, etc. Only thing your PSU should be hooked to is your motherboard.

Now try to turn it on, see if it will at least post.

I noticed that there aren't any AMD motherboards that have PCI Express 3.0 slots, which seems like it could be a problem considering the graphics card I picked out. Would it still be compatible?

PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 2.0 are both functionally identical with current graphics cards anyway.

Yeah, if you have a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, you won't have to worry about hitting the bandwidth limits.

It's a "useless" upgrade for now, just for future proofing. There may be a difference between 3.0 and 2.0 on 4x lanes, but I haven't really looked into it further than that.

Gotcha, thanks. What's the reason for AMD motherboards not supporting it? Seems like it'd make sense to do it.

AMD doesn't want to put in the trouble to redesign motherboards and CPU interfaces for something that makes no performance difference. So instead of orphaning CPUs, blocking motherboards from CPU upgrade paths, and spending money on R&D to develop new chipsets, they stick with what they have and don't suffer any performance issues. The only downside to that is marketing. AMD probably won't have PCIe3.0 until maybe DDR4, maybe.

Ironically enough, the first PCIe3.0 video card was AMD.

Damn, lol. It took me forever to get all them chords hooked up. Not looking forward to that again.

I'm at work right now however so I'll do it tomorrow some time. I'm getting frustrated though....
