Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Yeah I got free 2 day shipping too with a one year free trial of ShopRunner, so I gotta say I'm feeling good lol.
It's this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227727.
On top of the $20 mail in rebate, I got a promo code from newegg for 15% off all OCZ internal SSDs, but it says it's non-transferrable and only useable by the email it was sent to. You can try though: BTENFGN45PS: You guys are great.

You can get the same PSU combined with the i5-2500 for just $20 more. If you don't go i7, at least go with the 2500.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I don't see anywhere that would indicate the M stands for mobile. The M version actually has extra stuff like e-sata.
I love being a student majoring in the technology field. We get anything Microsoft offers(accept word, excel, PP) for 100% free through our school(MSDN Academic Alliance). Then I got that same version of Office for $30. Do you have to have Microsoft Office? There have been two alternatives posted in this thread. Open Office and OfficeLibre. I would do some more research and see if you can get Windows 7 and Office for less.
You are at $1100 right now including your software. Since you have so much room to spare you might as well add in a SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820139601
Is $1500 you ultimate cutoff, or were you looking to spend $1500? You could definitely upgrade here and there and still be under $1500. Also little stuff like a better CPU cooler and a case that has better airflow(I am not sure how good or bad the one you picked is. Has great reviews, but it's a budget case).
Oh and you will need some thermal compound - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100007Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 05-06-2012, 10:45 PM.Comment

I would prefer ms home and student I'm familiar with it and all I'm Sure try make a 1 user copy not 3 for less. And I didn't see that about the other office software an idk if they work with word and PowerPoint so I could work on stuff at home or school. $1500 max I'll spend can go over a bit for shipping but I felt like I wanted to get something that will be a beast while not chasing down being best of best. I guess I'll go with the pro4-m them it had more reviews as well. For the case yes it does have a lot of great reviews I didn't want to get a huge case so I went with a mid tower idk much about what to look for in cases I mean if it fits it all with good air flow it's fine right? I didn't know about thermal compound I thought that comes already on the CPU. From why I've read at leaf it it difficult to do your self I assume not since can't be harder than putting the computer together lol. I'm sure sure about ssd seems like for a faster boot time and a bit "safer" for a small amount (compared to what I can get for that money in a normal hard drive ) it doesn't seem worth it. I've had this computer or 10 years hard drives sill going strong I would maybe pick one up later when there cheaper tho. Thanks for te help so far guys

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Shipping should only be about $20-$30. They finally caught on with Amazon and make most of the items free shipping.
You are right it does come on the stock heatsink. I think I was looking at an upgraded heatsink at the time. While on that subject, if you are going to overclock you pretty much need to get a better heatsink. - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103099
I wasn't saying get a 1TB SSD drive. You can get a 128gb Crucial for $125 then have the 1TB as storage - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...m-_-20-148-442
It is personal preference obviously. For me $120 is going to be worth it. You would still only be at $1,275 after shipping if you added that SSD and new heatsink.Comment

I'm not going to overclock at least for a while. but I'll keep that in mind down the road. Thanks
About the ssd I may Or may not get it. But it could be a good option to do now than later than having to move the OS down The line.
I have one more question. Do I need demagnetized screw driver or will a just run of the mill one be alright? I plan on buying a anti static wrist strap wasn't sure about tools I saw somewhere else that I should and then again that I don't need a special screw driver.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I've heard you aren't supposed to, but that is all I have ever used. Pretty big pain trying to hold onto the tiny screws that some of the parts use. I've never used an anti-static wrist strap, but I plan on getting one just in case when I buy all the crap for when I do mine. For $5 you might as well.
I don't own this, but saw it. Comes with some various tools and the wrist strap - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16899261003
You might as well go ahead and get a better heat sink. Even at normal rates it will lower the CPU temp by about 10*F and when you are running it pretty high can lower up to 25*F compared to the stock unit. Plus you wouldn't have to go back in and mess with wiping the old thermal paste off and all of that trouble.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I have that Rosewill kit and it is NICE. Very handy to have. I normally don't use magnetized screw drivers, but I've used them in the past with no issues.
If this will be the first time that you use the anti-static wristband, youll find it extremely annoying as well, haha. But you'll get used to it.Twitter - WTF_OS

Supported CPU Technologies
Supports Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology
Supports Intel K-Series unlocked CPU
Supports Hyper-Threading Technology
The one you have selected has none of that listed and it's a Z77. I should have noticed that.
Also on the optical drive, this one has been drive of the month for like a year straight - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 05-08-2012, 01:19 AM.Comment
