Yeah I was surprised that it was so cheap and they have a pretty good warranty too. They'll take back any machine they build even if you don't have a receipt and fix whatever problems there are.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

What is the shelf life for something like the 560 TI? What I mean is when might the price start dropping rapidly? I don't want to get my rig, then a month later everything is 25% because a lot of the parts I am picking like the 560 TI and 2500K debuted over a year ago.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Anyone had any idea on how big the markup is on PC supplies? The 2500K is the same price at Best Buy as it is on Newegg, but at Best Buy I could take advantage of someone's discount if it's a big enough difference.
And can someone tell me the difference between these?

And I have no idea which one I want now

I figure in a year I would regret not spending the extra $50-$75 for one of the ones above the standard 560 ti.Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 05-20-2012, 07:21 PM.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
So, I'm finally about to break down and attempt to build my own PC (after talking about it for 6 months) I've worked on them before, but only done the baiscs like adding memory or replacing a hard drive, so I feel like it's something I can do.
I'm hoping to get out for around $750 and still get a decent rig.. is this possible ? That's not including the monitor, of course...
With Diablo 3 out and a few other titles out there I want to check out, I think it's time that I finally do it.Last edited by AUChase; 05-21-2012, 06:24 PM.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
$750 is entirely possible. I'd read through this thread and pick from the list people have already made. The 560 TI seems to be the perfect budget card. I've been looking at this stuff all day since I decided to up my budget so I'm burned out. Best way to know what you are getting is read reviews and watch videos. Just see what you find and what you like.Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 05-21-2012, 08:27 PM.Comment

So... what's the cheapest PC I can build to run Diablo 3 on high settings? Don't have any parts so I'd need to acquire everything.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Think my 8800GT is finally dead. I thought it was just Windows messing up, because it takes like 2 minutes to boot up. I tried it on a HDD with Ubuntu and it still has problems. Going to send it on in. Hopefully I have some things work out for me and I can go ahead and order my new PC very soon.
It looks fine when the mobo screen pops up, but then white vertical lines appear. Then when windows starts to load they are green vertical lines, looks like morse code.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Thanks largely to the info in this thread, I am ready to purchase a gaming PC. I will not be building my own but I would like get an opinion on where to purchase the PC.
My choices are online (New Egg, Amazon, etc...), a local shop that builds, sells and services PC's (but their prices are higher) and then there is Best Buy.
BB has pretty good prices, but I am wondering what the negative is to BB. Do they use cheaper components in their builds? The brands they have are the same as New Egg and Amazon (iBuypower and CyberPower). I just like the idea of grabbing one of the shelf and going home and firing up SkyrimComment
