Don't know if this question had been answered, but the "M" in that motherboard means it's a Micro-ATX board. Very small, some cases don't have the right layout for these types of boards either. I would steer away from M-ATX boards if I were you.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
These builds on Newegg, it comes shipped in one piece? Or, will I have to put them together?
Also, on that note, who wants to help an ignorant OSer who knows nothing about this stuff?
I would like to be able to play games but at a relatively decent price. I don't want to spend over $900 realistically, and if possible, lower.
I don't really play any of those crazy games that need the best build possible.
EDIT: New Quest: I found a decent spec'd PC except for the Graphics card. How difficult would it be for a noob to install a graphics card?Last edited by cjonesfan921; 05-08-2012, 09:34 AM.Comment

The last few post though where people have 10 links of items are all individual parts that will be put together. A lot more fun
Do you need a monitor included in that $900? That is a pretty good number. It's not a super badass computer, but you can get one that will play every single game out there on pretty good settings.
Link to that PC? It's not hard. You literally just unplug the power. Take the side off. Push the card into a slot. Put in 1 screw and plug in the power line to it. Then it should come with a CD with drivers on it to make it work.Comment

They DO have have PCs that come pre-built.

Also, I don't really have a link. My friend sent me a text with this...
2.2GHz AMD A6-3620 Quad-Core
6GB of DDR3 RAM
Integrated AMD Radeon HD 6530D Graphics
It's an HP.
I did some research on that Graphics card right now, adequate.
I'm extremely unfamiliar with AMD processor, all I know is i-3, i-5, i-7.
Does that fit anywhere in between?

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Yes you could hook it up to your TV.
Looks pretty similar to this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883220153
This is always a good resource
Spoiler
They have the 6530 ranked at the very bottom.Comment

I would buy a new card with that.
Speaking of, is there a situation where some higher graphics cards won't run on that Asus set up you linked?Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
The power supply wouldn't be big enough to handle it most likely.
If you have interest in computers, just build oneThere are definitely lots of resources in this thread. You could pretty much build it using parts we have already linked.

What is decent? Post them if you have it.
Graphics cards are easy assuming your case is big enough to support some of these mammoths. You basically plug into the card slot and plug the power supply in to it. Boot up your computer, go to the either Nvidia or AMD's site, download the latest drivers and you are good to go.
Also, for newegg orders, the parts come in separate pieces and require you to put them together. There is a post in here where someone ordered a some parts and it is a good build and I believe cost them less than $800.
It was an i5 processor, 560ti graphics card, 8 gb ram build. Look back to that one.Last edited by choadler; 05-08-2012, 02:09 PM.Comment

I don't know anything about AMD. Looks like it's common in pre-built PCs. Here is some benchmarks on it - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_look...MD+A6-3620+APU

How long would you say it would take a beginner to put it together? Should I watched some videos and read up heavily beforehand?Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
It will work. 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0.
I still think you should go ahead and pick up and aftermarket heat sink. If you ever decide to overclock you will need it. You will then have to take out the old one and go through the hassle of removing the old thermal paste from the CPU.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Building one would be awesome actually. I am definitely leaning towards that option. Just don't know where to start, to be honest.
That's not bad, at all.
How long would you say it would take a beginner to put it together? Should I watched some videos and read up heavily beforehand?
I would say less then two hours to get everything unboxed and plugged in. It won't take days or anything like that. Having a second pair of hands won't hurt either.
Reading and watching always helps. I think on the first page I posted a pcmag.com article that showed step by step instructions. Youtube is always helpful too. I was lucky enough to have someone help me on my first one.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
My first ever build, and it took me about 4 hours. I was really careful and read over the manuals and other resources multiple times. Its actually a lot easier than it seems.
Its a lot less scary than you're probably imagining it to be. Or at least it was for me.Comment
