FYI: If you're a fan of Red Barron, Frescheta or Tony's frozen pizzas you can get a free movie ticket (up to $12 Hollywood movie cash) to see IM 3. Have to buy 4 that have specially marked boxes (codes inside box).

Bi-Lo has the Red Barron pizzas for $3 each (BOGO). So $12 in pizza gets you a ticket.

A nice deal if you were planning on buying frozen pizza anyway.

This trend of big movies going overseas before they come out here is annoying.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

          Sorry?

I'm pretty sure the reason Iron Man 3 showed here a week in advance is because of China funding part of the movie.

Don't worry, Star Trek and Man of Steel won't have such delays.

It happened with The Avengers last year, Battleship, and some other movies. I'm not really mad about it, it's just annoying that these big movies are starting to come out weeks before they come out here and since I listen to BBC movie podcasts, I get to listen to them talk about how great it is while I wait.

The other part of it is the whole piracy angle. While I can't really imagine why people would still download such low quality recordings, they're still out there.

Simultaneous releases (give or take a few days) is becoming the norm nowadays though.

Quite loosely based, if I may say so.

How does having it on the internet a week (or more) in advance help things?

I figured but still doesn't take away my excitement about that fact.

It doesn't; that's why they want to release in all markets sooner rather than later. And I'm guessing the assumption is that the international market is more likely to pirate the movie.

I'm figuring yes but is there a scene after the credits? Just want to be sure.

Yes, though I haven't read the details every discussion I've seen talking about it seem to indicate you should have expectations lower than the shawarma Avengers post-credits scene.

We'll see Thursday, have my ticket for a 9pm showing at the local Galaxy theater... reclining seats, wine service, and all! Can't wait!

Cool, I'm going with some friends to regal on Friday to either the 12 or 2 o'clock movie. Figured those two showing wouldn't be as pack with people being at work and school.

This showing is nearly sold out, but debatably the nicest thing about this theater isn't the recliners but rather the ability to pick your seat when you buy you ticket (online and in person).

Went to a nearly sold out Pain & Gain this weekend, and it's amazing how much the chaos is reduced when everyone knows where they sit.
