Loved the Barney and Robin story until the end.

The rest was pretty meh except for the very last scene set in the future.

The only thing I hate about those future scenes, is how it never says when it happens, it's just like "a few years later" or "a little ways down the road".

The show won't be going on for 2-3 more years(they already showed in star wars episode that Teds daughter is born by 2015), so they really should have timeline for this stuff.

Especially the Robin-Barney wedding. It basically HAS to be happening in Spring 2013.

Random thing, but the show has been on for about 60 hours. Meaning the story of how he met their mother, might have taken around 3 days in real time(without stopping) lol.

I thought this episode was very, very good.

But please, HIMYM writers, PLEASE stop with the puns. I don't know who advised them to load up the scripts with these dumb jokes, but it's gotta stop.

And Robin.....well.....I don't think she's looked that good in a long time. Even outside of the lingerie scene. Which, BTW, we need screencaps/GIF of.

As How I Met Your Mother approaches the end of its eighth season, it's still uncertain whether the show will live to see another year. Although CBS still has a license deal in place until the end of Season 8, creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have requested that the network reach a renewal decision by the end of this month because of the ongoing storyline of the show, which, as Deadline points out, needs to begin building toward the big mother reveal when an end date is set.

As far as CBS is concerned, another season would be preferable. "We're having conversations right now about extending it, we want the show to come back next year," said the network’s entertainment president Nina Tassler back in August. "We're not there yet in terms of resolving the situation, but we're pretty optimistic."

In September, IGN's own Eric Goldman spoke with Bays and Thomas, who said, despite a potential renewal, Season 8 would function as a final entry for the series. Said Bays, "We're writing this season like it's the end and we'll have to sort of figure it out and have a Plan A and a Plan B going, and we're approaching the moment where those two things will diverge. But we really feel like this launches the last season of How I Met Your Mother."

While the studio, 20th TV, and Thomas and Bays are open to continuing the series, the cast is another story. According to Deadline, Segel has said that he will likely not return for another season, even if he hasn't completely shut the door on it. Nevertheless, all of the cast's contracts are set to expire following Season 8, so it's difficult to say who will come back and who will not at this point.

I think the series needs another season, but at the same time not if everyone doesn't return. Too often series last seasons are ruined by the disappearance of a star or two

Stuff with Marshall-Lilys parents was weird, but funny part was Lily randomly in Barneys closet, and how every item in the episode seemed to be "Property of Ted Mosbey". That,and the intervention.

All shows do. Some are done this season(september-december is 1 season for them) and don't start back until February. Others like HIMYM take a mini break during holidays(since less people are watching tv) so they air a mid season finale like this.

Loved it.

I just wish they didn't have the Patrice Yelling stuff during the special reveal at the end. A lot of sitcoms do that. The landmark moments are marred by unnecessary joke injections. I don't know why they do that but they do.

That was great. They nailed that ending.

Only complaint is like Matrix mentioned, there were a little too many unnecessary joke injections for such a big moment (mainly the Ranjit stuff during Ted and Robin's conversation).

I'm just glad that Ted and Robin are officially, officially over. I really thought they were about to go down that path one more time but thankfully they didn't. Now I just hope they fast track Ted's journey meeting the mother.

Quality mid-season ending. Had to set up the wedding with that being the obvious finale.
