Disney To Acquire Lucasfilm

Scheduled to come out the same year as Avatar 2 and The Avengers 2.

No shortage of blockbuster films in 2015. Box office records will be broken.

And the Justice League movie is supposed to come out that summer as well. Crazy nerd movie summer.


Disney has done incredibly well with the Marvel license, so they have my faith for now. We shall see what news comes of this about the movie.

Do you guys think that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher reprising their roles in Episode Seven? Now that they are older, a job into the future would work and then the story just takes off their their kids.

If they do something with it being after ROTJ they'd have to try and get them back otherwise it'd just be weird unless they weren't involved in the story at all.

With living in Florida i'm interested in seeing if with the addition of Marvel and now Star Wars if they are interested in starting up a new park, they also have Indiana Jones too now. The small spot they have at Hollywood Studios is cool, but a whole park with like half Marvel and half Star Wars would be awesome.

After seeing Carrie Fisher at the Roseanne Roast they'd be better off just having a CGI Leia than bringing her back and ruining ROTJ sexy Leia.

I think Ford is the only one who has aged respectably.

My basic thought as well though it does say that Lucas would be a creative consultant. If he can consult on the overall plot than that might be good. Lucas' strength is the world building but we've seen with the prequels that he can't cut it in terms of scripting the work so if there are more polished script writers working off of a basic Lucas premise then it can work.

Time will tell though.

I agree with this. There are a lot of writers out there who can create a great Star Wars story. I also wouldn't be upset if they create a fresh story line that isn't necessarily connected in a linear fashion to Episodes 1-6. Some may disagree, but IMO, Star Wars doesn't have to be about Luke, Han, and Leia, or their descendants.

I'm actually pretty excited. I have a lot of faith in Disney working with the biggest movie franchise of all time. They are going to put the best of the best on this film and put out everything Disney is capable of doing. Especially if they are going to compete with Avengers and Avatar. It's gonna be a war and the winner is us.

That actually wouldn't be a bad move, in my opinion. I mean, Disney has dropped 8 billion dollars for two of the biggest fictional universes of all time. I'm sure they can find some change for a football stadium in Orlando. The only problem is all the fans from Jacksonville would have to travel a couple hours.

This is great news to me. Having a son who will be 3 when the new movie comes out (same age I was when I saw my first Star Wars movie - Empire) means I'll be able to easily pass my Star Wars nerdom down to him.

IMO, I think odds are good to bring back Mark Hamill as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. I don't think he'd be a main character, but I think he'd be persistent through episode IX.

Harrison? Hmm. Based on what he's said in the past, I think if the script is strong AND the right director is attached, he'd possibly consider reprising an older Solo in a limited role or cameo.

Carrie? She's fond of Star Wars, moreso than Harrison I think, but she would know she'd have to go through a regimen to get herself presentable as Leia. I think Mark and Harrison might have to cajole her a bit, if they are getting on board.

All speculation of course, but that's my guess in regards to that trio.
