Haven't read the book (though I plan to get on it soon) but my MAIN gripe with the trailer - CGI zombies! Just get the guys from The Walking Dead and make it look REAL. I'm already getting an I Am Legend vibe from it - good movie but the monsters brought it down.

Well apparently this movie is not suppose to be based on the book at all.

I actually feel the opposite. I'm glad there are finally zombies that are fast. If you think about it, they are dead, they have no feelings, they can't feel tired or get hurt.

The only thing on their mind is to eat.. and at certain point, they will be forced to do whatever it takes to get some food.. If your meal is running away from you, natural instincts tell you to run after them to satisfy the crave.

That was one of the best books I read in years, that trailer just crushed my hopes and dreams, zombies characteristics are odd, and it looks like it'll be centered around just the family, where the book didn't do that. Could have been approached much better. I had been waiting for about a year for a trailer, so disappointed. Probably still gonna see it to give it a chance but I'm expecting to be disappointed.

They also have deteriorated tendons that should snap and thus make them slow and shuffling...

You can't move very fast when your achilles tendons are no longer there....

We complain repeatedly about Hollywood not switching things up. A movie comes out that bucks the normal trend with a slightly different take on zombies, and now everyone complains that it's not more of the same. Lol.

Anyway, I thought that looked badass. Plus, I'm not about to miss a Brad Pitt movie... one of my favorite actors.

They are more werewolves than zombies. Supreme athletes that run throw towns like a tsunami.

You mean other than Hollywood messing with the premise of the story to turn it into something different to appeal to the fast zombie 28 days later fan? When the book wasn't about that (from what I can gather)?

Also, I dare say fast zombies are more prevalent (In Book literature and film) than regular shuffling zombies who are nigh indestructible (which capture the feeling of despair quite well). What was so terrifying about World War Z zombies was human and government incompetence in the beginning and the realization of "Our greatest weapons don't work". Anti Tank machinery, bombs, anything that didn't destroy the brain was useless.

Oh, and everyone is complaining precisely because it IS more of the same. As stated above.

                        Agreed.
The last several zombie movies....of course starting with 28 days....has zombies at breakneck speed.
When was the last plodding horde type movie? The "shufflers".
Can't really remember one within the last few years.

Perhaps I'm thinking more along TV and gaming lines; Dead Island, Walking Dead, ZombieU, RDR Undead expansion, etc... those all have much slower, shambling undead.

Either way I don't see the problem of having the faster infected. I realize it's a departure from the book, but so is the aforementioned Walking Dead from the comic version as the series has progressed. Nothing wrong with a different take if it turns out to be great.

I'm definitely still going to watch it. I'm just going to go in with lowered expectations since they changed it up from the source material.
