Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
After some thinking time, here's my spoilery thoughts on the movie.

Spoiler
Like mentioned before, some stuff was certainly telegraphed, but to me it didn't have any effect on the enjoyment of the movie. And nostalgia wise, I'm completely fine with it. I put this movie as my 3rd favorite behind Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back.
First, I'm glad they got it out of the way right away that Kylo was Han and Leia's son. I was fully expecting him and Rey, spelled Rey, not Rae, to be the solo twins, so glad they got his story out of the way.
Han's death scene was definitely parallel to Obi-Wan's death, I got chills and choked up. Definitely one of the hardest deaths for me in a movie. But it definitely legitimized Kylo Ren.
Maz, the cantina owner was awesome, her time there was so perfect. Leading to Rey's first experience with a lightsaber. I loved the throwback to Luke's cave scene on Dagobah. I liked the flashback of her young being taken, definitely something to come out of that.
I was thinking Finn would be Lando's son, but now with Han dead, I'm not sure it would make sense to bring back Lando.
I loved Luke being in at the end, I would have hated to not at least see him, he looks like a legitimate badass Jedi now.
Going forward I want to know Finn's origin, and Rey's. Initially I thought she was Leia and Han's daughter, but one of them would have done something to acknowledge it. But when Rey and Leia embraced near the end, they didn't tip off that they were mother and daughter, but Leia knowing her name leads me to believe Rey is Leia's niece, definitely the offspring of Luke. And that she was hidden away to avoid being hunted down some day, similar to Luke being hidden on Tattoine as a baby.
And lastly I want some backstory to the Supreme Leader, interesting that they didn't necessarily allude to the fact that the bad guys were sith, but I'm curious how this guy becomes head bad guy.
Overall great movie, such a great combination of nostalgia and establishing the new characters. I hate that we have to wait a couple years for episode 8, because I could go for it right now.
