Are we so sure it's the wine? He cut the cake and it kind of stayed on it for a split second or am I just imagining these things. Plus I feel like that's when he first started having the poison issues.
Personally I think Margery did it, she had that pissed off mother face during most of his antics during the celebration. I'm gonna need to watch it again thoMember of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

BOOK SPOILERS
SpoilerYes, she takes a jewel (bigger spoiler here)
Spoilerfrom the hairnet that Dontos gave her last episode
Giant spoiler here, seriously don't read it if you don't want to have major events spoiledSpoilerTurn back now
SpoilerThe jewel she took is a black amethyst, which is what she puts in the wine glass to poison Joffrey.Spoiler"...I haven't had the opportunity to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your brother. War is war, but killing a man at his wedding? Horrid. What sort of monster would do such a thing?
how ironic?!Comment

I enjoy watching you all try to figure it out. It is possible based on what you saw in the episode. Carry on.Comment

Now that he's gone, I will miss him a bit because he was such a prick that it was funny. I honestly thought he would last awhile, usually the most evil do. But it's not a typical story.
That's what I love about GoT, who can hustle the best survive.

I still think it was the fool. Also doesn't the bald foreign guy (guy that told tyrion about his whore) work with poisons? If you noticed they specifically during the episodes point the camera at the brides mom, the bride, circie, the bald guy, sansa, tyrion.
Like they wanted to give you a look at everyone before hand.
And that remark about killing someone at their wedding seems odd.

After watching again today, all I'll say (and this is absolutely not a spoiler but I will spoiler it anyway, just in case)Spoileris that they showed exactly who, with what, and when
Now maybe there is more to it, I really don't know (and wouldn't confirm it either way anyway if I did), but I think anyone could figure it out or at the very least come up with a very educated guess if they paid close enough attention. Was real proud of my wife for catching it.PS: You guys are great.

SpoilerYep if you watch really closely during the wedding you can figure out who poisened Joff. I think HBO did a fantastic job on this wedding, kudos to them. Supposedly none of the actors knew about the dwarves and were told to jus react.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
Oh, how sweet this episode was. All that's left is for Walder Frey to get his comeuppance. I want Cersei to eat it too. But my storyteller instincts says she has a lot more room to crumble left. Namely, the moment her relationship with Jamie totally implodes, then GRRM will kill her off too.
And in the meantime, Jaime is turning into likeable character? I don't wanna...he's so sick in some ways, but I'll be damned if I'm not rooting for him a bit.
Anywho, as for the culprits in this daring caper this theory, along with some other things I've said made me suspendable for potential spoilers in a forum dedicated just for people who never read the books.
SpoilerIt would appear that Littlefinger was somehow responsible for the Purple Wedding. I don't know exactly how. But he benefits a lot from this. He's always present whenever something serious happen, yet is conspicuously absent for this? Doing this not only implicates Tyrion, who used him that one time and LF is one me-centered dude, but it allows him to abscond with Sansa, his replacement Catlyn. And it is will cause even more chaos. Which is something he wants. See that little conversation with Varys last season.
But at the end of the day, I don't see anyway this was a lone gunman plot. If Littlefinger is behind it, he had a lot of help.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
Good night, my sweet bastard troll of a king. You shouldn't have named your sword, because only ****s name their sword. But I guess we all already knew that.
Man that episode flew by quicker than usual! Aside from the "Purple Wedding," I was really hooked on Bran and his vision when he touched the gods wood. It kind of looks like he's heading even farther north than I expected.
Theon/Reek was interesting. Talk about breaking a man down! I actually felt bad for him when he heard that Robb was dead; great bit of acting from Alfie Allen.
As for the wedding, I've only seen the episode once but my quick fire bets for who the culprits are: Margaery, Olenna Redwynne, Oberyn Martelle (long shot, but he is known for poison).
I don't think Dontos had anything to do with it just because he tried to whisk Sansa away as Joffrey was choking. Sansa, I think, isn't at that point yet where she can play the game of thrones in a more proactive way so I'm ruling her out too. Olenna had a lot of ominous lines when she went over to speak to Sansa, so even if she didn't do it, I think she knows who did and isn't quite innocent herself.
I should just watch that sequence again and see if I pick up on anything more definitive.
Lastly, Jaime providing the **** once again. Thought he got Loras scared then Loras comes back with the sucker punch right to the feels!
Edit: Tyrion's speech in a nutshell.
