Spoiler
I wonder if George RR Martin shares certain future plot developments with the TV crew so they know which characters they need to include in the show. One of the more common theories out there is that Coldhands is Benjen Stark. Seems like it could wind up being a pretty important/cool angle in the books that would be completely left out of the show.
Comparatively, a guy like Strong Belwas not being in the show is disappointing but it won't alter much of Dany's story. I'll be much more disappointed if Coldhands isn't included, he could be more important in the books than Strong Belwas (hell, he already is) and is a cool, unique character/being."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Littlefinger: You know what I learned, losing that duel? I learned that I'll never win. Not that way. That's their game, their rules. I'm not going to fight them: I'm going to $#@! them. That's what I know, that's what I am, and only by admitting what we are can we get what we want.
Ros: And what do you want?
Littlefinger: Everything, my dear. Everything there is.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
I didn't want to bump any of the old season threads, but I just finished season 3 in about 18 days. Such an incredible show. It was hard to keep up with all the characters early on and I stil can't remember a few when names are mentioned, but I absolutely love it.
I am surprised I was able to pretty much avoid all spoilers. The only thing I really knew about it, spoiler wise, was that Joffery became King and something goes wrong at the Red Wedding. Hell, leading up to episode 9 I thought the Red Wedding was going to be Joffery's wedding. It was such a shock to see the slaughter. Although I think Ned Starks beheading might have shocked me more. At the moment I thought the show was about the Starks and Ned was a central character, so it surprised me to see him die after 9 episodes. Having that happen told me no one is safe.
My favorite characters are probably
Tryrion
Jamie
Jon
Arya
Tywin
I really like Joffery's character though. I know we are supposed to hate him, but I love the evilness of him. I hope he has more screen time. I really like Cersei a lot as well.
My plan is to be caught up to season 4 by this weekend so I can watch episode 6 with everyone else.Comment

The death of Ned forced me to not watch the season finale for about 3-4 days. From the very 1st moment I started watching he was my favorite character.

Exactly, Littlefinger as much as said so in season one when he told Ros about a duel he fought (and lost) in his youth over Cat:

If it is Benjen, odds are he plays a role in the 6th/7th books. If they revealed him already on the show, odds are viewers would be able to recognize him, unless they covered up his face.
Same way that the show revealed Selmy right away, while in the books he was Arstan Whitebeard for a while. You couldn't hide his identity in the show because you know what Selmy looks like.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

SpoilerThey don't show Coldhands' face in the book either, but I don't think he is Benjen anyway. Coldhands was said to have been killed "long ago" by a being over 200 years old. Benjen has only been missing for a couple of years by this point and I don't think someone that old would consider a year or two a long time. I think he was a brother of the Night's Watch but other than that I don't feel like there's enough out there about him to make a good guess about his identity.

SpoilerI don't think it matters who he is really anyway, considering I believe Bloodraven is warging Coldhands.

Book spoilers
SpoilerThat's another one that I don't believe(the last comment). Though I do think Jojen dies soon, as there seems to be a lot of foreshadowing, I don't think it'll be "off-screen" like that. At least, I hope not. That whole scenario is just disturbing as hell.PS: You guys are great.

King Joffery is no more - WOW! I didn't see that coming quite yet. I figured he would be villain for a while. I love the evil character and I was hoping him be more of a **** in the future. Just nuts.Comment

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4 (aka A Storm of Swords: Part Deux)
I appreciate fellas. I am kind of sad he is gone. I know he was an ***, but being that little ****ing ****, I was just expecting more evilness from him.
I wish he would have gotten more screen time now, and would have been portrayed a bit worse. Was he more horrible in the books?
