The channel debuted yesterday. They aired some nascar and UFC stuff. Personally I think they won't be competitive with ESPN for another decade or longer but I do seeing them top NBC Sports...I don't think anyone broadcast will top ESPN anytime soon when it comes to sports coverage....

I had slim hopes that it might provide an alternative to ESPN, but seeing the programming they have lined up, it just looks like The Best Damn Sports Channel Period.

It takes a while for a network to establish itself. Once football season starts and they get MLB games next season, if they get enough, they'll have a chance to go somewhere. It took NBC Sports awhile to get established.

Agreed, though Jay still looks like he's one step towards committing murder. I'm surprised they didn't try to pretty him up as he's a bit rough around the edges visually.

BTW thanks for the 1st YT link as I was looking for something like that earlier.

Too soon to tell about FSL. I will give them time though. I am just happy there is some competition now.

Their version of sportscenter was unwatchable and that's saying a lot since I watch sportscenter

Every single anchor and analyst they had was just like nails on a chalkboard

It shows UFC, that is all that really matters to me. Unless it is college football or college basketball on ESPN, I don't even watch ESPN. NBC Sports don't even exist to me.....I literally just discovered that channel a few months ago, can careless about it.

That promo was the hardest anything on a sports television show has ever made me laugh.

Their style takes getting used to. I will admit they carry on like irritating fools a little too often for my liking but they were the #1 anchor team on TSN for a long time. I think they'll realize they need to tone it down some for the US audience.

I wonder if they have any creative control over the highlights and such as it would be interesting to see if they do more hockey highlights than ESPN does.

And that right there is why I turned it off within 10-15 minutes, that guy irritates the living hell out of me. The one thing that turned me off from ESPN was the constant need to be funny and for every anchor to have catchphrases or goofy comments for everything. I was hopeful this show would be what ESPN used to be way back in the day, leaving the comedic shticks at the door and just reporting on sports but instead what I got was ESPN's garbage on steroids mixed with terrible anaylsts like Andy Roddick and Donovan McNabb. Ill catch it one more time perhaps but Im already about over it after 10-15 minutes.

Can I ask if you just maybe didn't really know what you were getting into, despite the marketing blitz for the show?

And the network?

All they've done for the last 3 months is talk about how they're "The 1 For Fun" and how they're not going to take things as seriously as ESPN does.

Not to mention they gave the show to Onrait and O'Toole. This is their shtick.

If you don't think they're funny, that's one thing. I can understand that. But I'm just not sure why exactly you were expecting a serious show.

The vibe I got from the show was that they were trying to find a balance between being funny and serious. They had anchors making jokes and a panel that debates sports. That's okay if it's done well, but I didn't think they pulled it off. It felt like I was watching a bad SNL sketch at times.

I thought the same thing.

Jay Onrait was insufferable. He's not funny at all IMO.

I like the idea of the panel, but they need better panelists. Charissa Thompson is a great choice to lead the panel. She's knowledgable, funny, and not bad to look at.
