Gary was awesome on NBATV because he was unfiltered and would openly clown other NBA players. They just need to have him on when basketball season starts.

Ehh I dont know about that. The biggest complaints I hear about SC are

      1) They focus on one story too much (See anything that involves Tebow, Lebron, Manziel, Arod etc.).

      2) They dont show enough highlights.

      3) They only focus on sports that ESPN owns the rights too (No hockey and smaller niche sports).

SC hasnt been silly since guys like Kenny Mayne and Dan Patrick left. Actually out of all the SC versions, I actually enjoy the WC version with Stan Verette and Neil Everett. They are loose. They tell jokes and they like each other. The other SC's are pretty bad.

Seeing Randy Moss in studio tonight during the NFL game. He may grow on me. I thinks its because his voice reminds me of Omar Little.

I want an alternative to ESPN and I like Charissa, so I'm going to give it a chance. I wasn't terribly impressed last night, but I'm guessing they'll need some time to warm up.

McNabb was actually better than I thought he'd be. And I like Payton.

There's never going to be a serious sports channel because no one will watch it (the masses, that is) and they're already fighting an uphill battle.

It's like EA/2k. The little guy will have to keep casual elements to make sure they garner some viewers. It will never be 100% hardcore like most of the guys here want it.

In the few moments I watched though, FSL just felt like a cheap knockoff wannabe SC. Strange and awkward. And I don't think that has anything to do with me being American like Maj alluded to. I do believe this needs some time to find its sweet spot, just as NBCSN did and does.

Jay and Dan's routine worked at TSN because:

              1. The comedic touches grew gradually and organically over the years. If two anchors we'd never heard of showed up on Canadian TV with a similar "wackiness" from the get-go, they wouldn't be received well.

              2. TSN's Sportscentre is much more highlight-driven than ESPN's (and apparently Fox Live's, at least to start).

              3. Most of TSN's other anchors are pretty "straight", so there was a nice contrast. I like Jay and Dan, but a little can go a long way.

Not saying that Onrait/O'Toole won't succeed down there, but it might take time. If I was a FSL producer, I'd suggest to ease up on the comedy a bit and focus on what disgruntled ESPN viewers want from FSL (detailed highlights from a wide range of sports), at least until Americans get used to them.

I'm pissed they stopped showing The 'Lights. It was perfect for me when I was getting ready for work. I guess if it isn't getting ratings, what can you do? But give me something other than random replays of sporting events.

I just would have hoped they did one thing better than Sportscenter. I mean in any aspect. Anything. Could have been humor, analysis, more highlights, a special segment, a better format, any freaking thing.

Unfortunately I didn't get a feeling they did anything better than Sportscenter. I will watch tonight again to see if there were improvements...

Regardless I wasn't expecting much to begin with. For game analysis on television it's best to stick with NBATV, or the NFL channel etc. It just would have been nice to be pleasantly surprised

I liked it too but I remember reports calling it the lowest rated ongoing show on a sports network.

Expectations are too high though. Sportscenter has been on for 30 years and in that time evolved. Cant expect FSL to be on that level with anything on day 1. With that said, there were more highlights on FSL. In depth UFC and showed every MLB game (something SC doesnt do).

You guys comparing it to Sportscenter need to remember that the show has evolved. If this came on today you'd turn it off:

Watched a little bit of it and so far, not so good for me.

And just what McNabb needs: Another platform to bitch and moan about how he wasn't "treated fairly" in DC and to pull out the race card every now and then. It's the same old, same old with him. ALMOST like Rob Parker. Almost.

Nah, I'll pass on that BS and stick to NBATV and NFL Network for my Highlight Fix. Couldn't care less about MLB or UFC and can get my Football Discussion Fix from here.

Tonight's is airing without a panel, apparently they're only Monday-Friday (I have a theory that they're already experimenting).

I just look at it like this, SC has been around forever. It's not difficult to study the show and figure out where you can focus your new show and hone your angle. No, you're not going to surpass SC on show #1, but good lord it would have been nice to see them show even a sliver of potential.

They did not do that in any regard, outside of perhaps spotlighting the UFC a bit more.

Not to mention in this day and age, it shouldn't be that difficult to put together a great team of personalities. I mean there is so much talent out there..

I don't think many in the thread have written the show off yet. It just would have been nice to be surprised by the show or to be intrigued by some aspect of the show to have me coming back.

                                This exchange just happened.

It's take your dog to the park night in Tampa Bay:
"Hey! Let's bring our dogs to the ballpark so it can poop everywhere!"
"Especially in a dome stadium, it's like a fart chamber!"

This show is never going to be serious with these two involved. And I love that about it. But if that's not your thing, I don't think you're going to like it any more with time.
