That promo was the hardest anything on a sports television show has ever made me laugh.
Yikes, that part of the show had me shaking my head out of disgust. And like I said, I punish myself by watching espn regularly.

I don't care what their angle is it just isn't good television so far. I will give them a chance because I feel like anything could be better than espn. But ******* was I proven wrong so far

The panel they have was awful. I'll give 'em a chance, but it wasn't a great first impression.

I don't think this is that unusual. Onrait and O'Toole are like anyone else when they start fresh on a new station; they're trying a bit too hard.
I didn't like them that much when they first started on TSN, but I grew to like them.
What I like about them is that they seem to genuinely like sports and the athletes and like to have fun with it.
Some sportcasters out there (such as Steve Czaban - who I do enjoy), seem to have a negative sense of humour towards athletes and the sports they cover.
Jay and Dan are almost always super upbeat, positive and excited to be doing their job.
There's no jaded or scarred attitude there.

I'm just trying to figure out why I'm supposed to care about anything Andy Roddick has to say about sports.

Gary Payton was okay, McNabb was eh, the other guy was kinda awful, and Gabe Kapler...they should have had a lot more Gabe Kapler.

The two anchors were funny, I thought. But that's probably because I knew what I was getting with them before I saw the show. I will say that them yelling at the top of their lungs was extremely annoying though.

How about less fun, more scores.

              Be an alternative to ESPN/Sportscenter.

I dont want to watch Sports Night. I've seen it already.

All they've done for the last 3 months is talk about how they're "The 1 For Fun" and how they're not going to take things as seriously as ESPN does.

                <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Lr9VMgEZvpI" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe>

Not to mention they gave the show to Onrait and O'Toole. This is their shtick.

If you don't think they're funny, that's one thing. I can understand that. But I'm just not sure why exactly you were expecting a serious show.
I didnt see a single promo for the show or the network leading into yesterday so I had no idea what to expect going in. In the end all I wanted was an alternative to ESPN that wasny full of catch phrases, yelling hosts and poor attempts at comedy and instead what I got was worse then ESPN. Hopefully over time they tone things down but if their slogan is indeed what you said then I have a feeling its only going to get worse or at the very least continue like it started.

I think their totally missing the mark if they think the whole "were not going to be as serious as ESPN" idea is what they intend on using to sell their programs. ESPN is at its best when it is serious, there is a reason shows like 30 for 30 are so wildly popular and why so many dont like Sportscenter and its not because theyre "too serious" I promise you that.

Yeah I was a bit stunned/naive about how that first show turned out. I like that they show more stats. I don't like the constant attempts at humor. When you try to be funny it usually doesn't end well. If you happen to be funny then so be it. It is a subtle nuance but it is profound.

I also haven't seen promos for it, besides the FS1 coming soon! ones. I did know those guys were going to lead the shows, but didn't know anything about them.

Saw the channel had debuted and gave it a shot for FSL. Ugh. It was weird and awkward. It definitely did feel like an SNL skit. It will definitely take time.

Gary Payton is a pretty cool guy. He makes regular appearances on TSN's OTR and he's a funny guy. Hopefully FS1 will use him a bit more and he'll get acclimated to the situation there. He's got some opinions and isn't afraid to speak on them.

Same here. Had no clue they were aiming for a "fun" sports channel. As others have said, that's the stuff that turned me off ESPN.

Haven't been able to watch it yet since my TV died, but based on what I've read so far, I'll be watching for the games and nothing else, which is exactly what I do with ESPN.

I guess people just have to be Canadian to like Jay/Dans style of broadcasting. Or people in USA are just use to the same styles of stuff so when something new happens, they don't really like it cause it's not what they're use to seeing?

Either way, sucks how Canada doesn't get this channel! Instead we're stuck with some nonstop replay of the old speed channel....

People say they want that but NOBODY actually does. NBCSN has a show called "The Highlight" or something like that. The show does nothing but show highlights and scores and around 10k people watch that show.

As for FSL, I liked the anchors and I like Clarissa. I hate the panel. I dont give a **** what Andy Roddick thinks about the Dodgers. I could care less what GP thinks about A-Rod.
