I hope I get to a point of my life where I can do things like that.

Watched Fast Five again last night. Hard to believe he's gone.

We lost a great man for sure.

          This was wonderful.

There is a very large car meet up, cruise and fundraising event for Paul's charity ROWW in his name in the suburbs of Chicago Saturday night, if everything works out i'm heading up for it. They are project 3000+ cars

Coroner released a statement saying the car was going over 100 miles per hour. No surprise there. The driver was an irresponsible, wreckless idiot. Damn lucky he didn't kill any pedestrians or other drivers.

I'm not saying the driver wasn't irresponsible, but apparently the car also has a reputation of having a mind of its own or something. I wonder if the driver's intent was to go that fast, or if the car ultimately did its own thing and picked up speed by itself.

I doubt it, but seeing that area it seems impossible for somebody to even get to 100 mph, much less have any intent of actually going that quickly.

Yeah, it's WAY too much car. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they issue a recall down the road.

A recall for what? The car is exactly what it was designed to be, a race car in street car clothes.

Lol exactly. It s a Porsche, not a Pinto. The car doesn't mysteriously start speeding up like its NightRider. You have to be very familiar with these cars to drive it fast properly. Every car reacts driffently to throttle inputs and how much oversteer or under steer occurs.

I drove a Viper one time last year on the track and that car is not meant to be driven hard unless you have lots of experience driving it fast. And I've driven Vettes, GTR's and 911's around tracks (helps that my brother in law is very well off and is a car enthusiast like me) but the Viper was a whole different experience. It felt totally alien to me. The back end gets loose very easily and was pretty scary to drive fast and many Porsches are the same way. There was so much HP and torque on tap that I did not feel comfortable going over 60 in a straight line never mind around curves. If I drove the car daily for a month then maybe I would get much better at understanding its quirks and feel better suited to open it up.

This guy was driving a supercar he never drove before for an extended period of time but since he had race driving experience thn he probably had this false sense of security thinking he could handle any fast car and obviously he couldn't and his ego got in his way. Driving a Vette and a Porsche fast are 2 very different experiences and those guys who review cars are driving on closed roads and getting the feel for it for hours before they start even thinking about going fast. This guy appeared to go all out 5 minutes after hopping into the car that was sitting at a showroom. To drive that fast around that particular road, then you better know that car like the back of your hand and obviously he didn't.

Exactly…these cars are made to behave like this. They are so dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I'll be honest, in my younger days I did stupid stuff in fast cars. My friend had a Z06 Corvette and we got that thing up to 186 MPH…terrifying when I look back on it since we really didn't have the experience to be doing that kind of speed. Almost makes me break out in a cold sweat thinking about it now to be honest.

I saw that they released the inquiry into Walker's death today and it cleared up 3 things:

                            1) They were doing an estimated 83 MPH…far less than some of the numbers that were thrown out originally.

                            2) There was no drag race going on or second vehicle involved.

                            3) Both men died almost instantly from severe blunt trauma force. Both were dead before the car erupted into flames.

They also noted that both men's bodies were found in a defensive position, meaning they knew they were about to impact…at least they didn't suffer.

This is good news (as good of news as you can get, at least). I kept reading things like people were hearing screams inside the vehicle. That would just be dreadful to think about.
