Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
SpoilerYes, Superman will be back. Snyder said that a part of the JL movie will be the team - mainly Batman, I'd assume - trying to figure out how to accomplish that. One of the contributing factors to having Supes "die" was so Bruce would be the one struggling to unite the heroes without the God backing him up, as there's a bit more drama in the hesitance of the League forming.SpoilerSuperman's death is the signal that Lex was referring to for Darkseid's coming. Mother Boxes are on Earth so we know they can just Boom Tube their way in knowing that Earth's mightiest being is out of the picture (in the mean time). There's an impetus on Batman to find these meta-humans and form the Justice League because of his "feeling" (i.e. the nightmares).
I agree with Snyder in the sense that why would these other metas need to get involved when you literally have a god-like being already with you? There is more drama there.
Now they just have to execute it properly.Comment

Got my ticket to go see it at 7pm tonight after work. Pretty excited. Seeing it on 70mm film. Supposed to be a brighter and clearer image. We'll see.

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
I saw it on Sunday. I loved it because I didn't really have any expectations; I wanted a nostalgic feeling from the movie and I got it. I have a few issues with it; it felt like Man of Steel II because there was more emphasis on Superman IMO. My second biggest issue is that, if they were going to kill Superman, just do it. Or, at least, kill him and leave reviving him for the next movie. I would have been much more satisfied with actually thinking that he died, sacrificing himself to save everyone.
I thought Eisenberg was fantastic as Luthor. He really brought a twist to the role; very Joker-like. I like how they incorporated the Justice League. I do wish they featured Flash or someone else, not Wonder Woman. Just my two cents.
I thought Affleck did a good job, surprisingly. Bale is my favorite Batman, mostly because I grew up watching those movies.
My only other notable critique with the movie were the weird dream sequences. Although, seeing Batman in a trench-coat was pretty cool, lol.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

If I read everything you wrote before seeing the film, I wouldn't have any expectation either. Didn't necessarily say he was "breaking" anything. Just thought he might have not realized that he said something to might ruin the movie for some.Comment

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
Finally got a chance to see the movie and honestly I feel meh about it. It falls somewhere in the middle of the two extremes out there right now. I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as the critics have made it out to be, but it certainly isn't this amazing epic that I've seen fanboys on other sites making it out to be. It's somewhere in the middle.
I think the comments about the film being all over the place are accurate as it seems like a Family Guy episode or something at one point as they jump from scene to scene.
I absolutely loathe the Lex Luthor portrayal. That's not Lex to me. That was more fitting for the Riddler or a take on the Joker or something, definitely not Lex Luthor though in my mind.
I'm still not sold on Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. I'm not seeing all the people saying she was amazing in this. We'll see what she's got in the Wonder Woman movie, but as of now we've still seen about as much of her in this as we saw of her in the Fast and Furious movies. Still don't see anything that says she's got these amazing acting chops that makes her perfect for the role above other choices.
I did think Affleck killed it as Bruce/Batman. I could do without all the killing, but everything else was great. I'll gladly eat the crow for being one of the one's that thought it was a terrible decision to make him Bats when the news broke way back when.Comment

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
This movie had the biggest drop from Friday to Sunday of any super hero movie to date, beating the last Fantastic Four reboot.

Thought we'd have to wait until next week for this kind of stuff, surprised to see it opening weekend.Comment

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice
Well I just got back from seeing it and I thought it was very enjoyable. Really liked it. I hear what you guys are saying about pacing but honestly I think it really is because it's basically 2 1/2 movies in 1 because they are so hell bent on getting to the Justice League as quick as possible. And honestly I'm fine with that. I thought Ben was superb as Batman. Loved this rendition. Superman was solid. I loved Wonder Women. The music got me super pumped. I even enjoyed how Lex was done.
I will say I did get confused at times. I grew up a Marvel guy so when I go see those movies I usually know the back story and other nuances that go with those characters. For DC I know who all the characters are mostly but other then the big 2 (Superman and Batman) I don't know a whole lot else. So a few questions:
SpoilerWhat was the deal with Batman and his whacked out dreams? The flying demons? The dude who was going in and out of focus? I didn't get any of that. Also Superman dying? I seem to remember having a comic as a kid called the Death of Superman but can't remember any details. Is this based on that? Obviously he has to come back to life because he is a main part of the Justice League but I was taken aback by this outcome.
All in all a very fun movie and I don't see why anybody who is into these characters wouldn't want to see it.Comment

1. The only dream that's hard to explain is the Knightmare sequence -- that's the one with the post apocalyptic world with Batman in the desert. My theory is there's a multi-verse at work and it's somehow bleeding into THIS reality that Batman is getting visions of. Also, those flying demons are called Parademons -- basically soldiers doing the bidding of Darkseid. Google it.
2. The guy going in and out of focus directly after that apocalyptic dream is The Flash. He's time-traveling but somehow, it was also in Bruce Wayne's dream before he finally, truly, wakes up.
3. Yeah, they took inspiration from the Death of Superman comic with the Doomsday battle and Superman's death.

Gronk's major spoiler reveal (although "legal") is something I thought the hardcore comic fanSpoilerknew was going to happen
My younger brother is one of those but didn't see that coming.
