Well they did tell Paul they had eyes all over him so it would be possible they had guys at each plausible exit, and it was the dirty cop at the right spot because TV--if it was some random we wouldn't have any recognition and it would produce way too much "wtf? who's that dude?"

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
Well, i liked the show a lot this year, but i don't feel its as compelling as last season was. Though it may have been more about the suggested supernatural undertones kept drawing me back. Either way the only bad thing IMO is Taylor Kitsch's performance. It feels jilted and off. Maybe i just don't understand it.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
Very telegraphed and the "I'll go nuts, kill a bunch of people and almost get out alive" cliche was pretty easy to see coming too. I didn't even flinch at the final scene, knew it was coming and didn't care on iota. I haven't been so unattached to characters in a drama in a long time.Comment

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
Man I never thought I would watch a whole season of a show without knowing the main character's names but I did it. I don't know how or why but I did it.

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
I kinda enjoyed the finale after the slow start. Which I think was basically this entire season, I didn't really feel for any of the characters until like episode 6 or 7.
I enjoyed pretty much all of the acting this season, but the character development was excruciatingly slow it felt like and the case had way too many parts (mainly people). To me it wasn't a terrible season, but it certainly wasn't season 1

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
Man, so that happened...
I think that season finale, in some ways, redeemed the whole season. Maybe that's too strong, but it at least colors the season in a different light for me (vs season 1's ending, which ruined everything they did up to that point for me). It was pretty epic, and I liked how in the end, they reveal who the guy in the bird mask was pretty much right away, so the rest of the episode can be dedicated to the denouement. Also, I liked how they did a quick montage showing how everything ended up - reminded me a lot of a last episode of a season of "The Wire".
For me, I enjoyed this season as much as season 1. Maybe more. OK, I guess I'll just say it: I liked this season more than season 1. That's clearly going to be a minority opinion.Comment

Re: True Detective (Season Two)
My favorite part of hate watching this season was the overwrought dialogue. A husband and wife couldn't even have breakfast without expounding upon the meaning of life. No one ever had a normal conversation.
S2 was a disaster. A decent, but nonsensical, finale doesn't erase 6.5 bad episodes. It doesn't work like that.
