    Re: Suicide Squad (2016?)

I think the movie was great. I'd give it an 8/10. My only gripes with the film were the villain along with its henchmen, and the whole way the Squad's mission came about. I found it a little cliché. But besides that, the movie was great. People have to remember DC is different from Marvel. They do things differently, while both being great. So it sucks to me that so many reviews I've read are simply not giving credit to this movie (along with BvS) for not doing things like Marvel. Why can't they both be great? Just keep a clear mind when you go to see the movie and have your opinion based on that.
Also, the mid-credits scene is worth seeing.

I'm pretty bummed about this movie being sold out from online ticket sales on base. We have one theater and it's not too big.. and every ship is in port.

It's also showing tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon, but the prospect of preordering for those nights doesn't sound too fun if the theater is going to be packed.

The accents used by the characters annoyed me at times, but none more than Killer Croc's blac-cent. Every time he spoke I thought back to the scene where Robert Downey is confronted about his in Tropic Thunder.

I place a ton of value on the main villain in comic movies and SS's baddie was plain awful.
Boomerang is Australian, Harley has always had close to that accent so don't know what you were expecting, and you do realize that the guy playing Killer Croc is black right? It seems off to compare a black guy doing a "blac-cent" to a white guy wearing blackface in a comedy doing a "blac-cent."

I watched this last night. I went in with low expectations and ended up loving the movie most of the movie. The plot was actually more in-depth than I figured it would be and there was more character development than I expected, as well. Obviously, there's not a lot of time to focus on too much with so many characters, but I thought them mixed it up pretty well.

If you trust Ayer, there will be no "Director's Cut" released, but he did say the deleted scenes will be included when it's released on BR/DVD.

I realize it's a comic movie and things are over the top, but they're voices at time just bothered me. Yes, I do know the guy playing killer Croc is a BRITISH black actor. Which is why it seems off he'd choose to use THAT accent. It seems completely relevant using Tropic thunder because that's how I felt. "They had one good part in the movie for a black man and gave the other to Crocodile Dundee" (Alpa Chino voice)

Telling stereotype jokes in a movie is fine, but if they're not funny they just come off as offensive.

                      Suicide Squad (2016?)

I hate to say it, mostly because I was so hyped for this movie, but it was not good.

I'm actually quite surprised that many of you giving this such high marks.

It was a complete hit or miss on the jokes. The villain was god awful. The editing left us lost as hell. And outside of Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis, the acting was bad. Not sure if I should blame the actors or writers on that. And for being bad guys, they were sweethearts.

                      Oh and "BET"...Cmon man. [emoji849]

I give this one a D. Only saved by Deadshot and Harley Quinn. And I wasn't bored at any point. So that's something. Lol

And for those interested in TMagics grading scale:

A- Dope movie all around. Worth seeing more than once in theatres...Ex: Guardians

B- Very Good movie. Good acting. Good writing. Fun. No complaints. Just missing that special something to make take it over the top...Ex: Revenant

C- Decent movie. Hit and miss in certain areas. Not bad. Just not on the level of movies mentioned above...Ex: BvS

D- More bad than good. Walked out of theatre disappointed with many thoughts of how I would have made it better. Lol...Ex: Suicide Squad

F- Are you effing kidding me right now? This has got to be a joke...Ex: GI Joe

This is really the film's highlight. The editing/style will be a perk for many others as well (though the pacing leaves a lot to be desired), but I don't think anybody is praising the mission narrative or the villain. I probably did laugh at more jokes than you did though.

Overall it was fun enough with a good character dynamic, that combined with the idea of the film itself I thought it was cool. You do this same film with good guys, and it's probably not as good (of course it would start off differently though). "Rooting for bad guys doing good" was kind of an interesting catch for me when the first trailer hit.

The only question now is will this allow us to "root against bad guys doing bad" later on in the DC film universe.

Thats how I would describe it. The concept is great. Margot is great. Will Smith was decent (some of his delivery was off). Fight scenes were great.

Editing was nonsensical. The writing was really hit or miss.

I enjoyed it for what it was. I decided after BvS that I would stop comparing the DC movies to the Marvel movies and just go in looking for a fun movie. SS was fun.

                            Bingo.

The villain is bad. Marvel's villains have also been pretty awful outside of Loki (people seem to only point to Thor 2...all of Iron Man's villains have sucked, Ant-Man's villain wasn't awesome, the first Captian America's villain was a let-down, Winter Soldier was done well but not mind-blowing) so that is just an unfair over-critique.

Also, Leto proved he can pull this Joker off which means the next Batman movie should probably take the mantle for "Best comic book movie villain since The Joker" with...well...The Joker, ha.

Harley, Deadshot and Waller steal the show. I agree that some of Smith's lines seem like they're obviously the ones they went back and edited because they felt a little forced/out-of-place, but overall he actually made me forget that it was Will Smith for long enough.

I actually liked Flagg (man, imagine if that had been Hardy) but I just didn't have any reason to care for him. I liked Croc up until the end. I liked El Diablo, aside from some of his dialogue at the end. Didn't care about Katana or Boomerang. Enchantress was hit or miss.

It's a fun movie, which is what it set out to be, I think. I have zero regrets about seeing it and can't wait to watch it again knowing what I'm getting so I can see if I enjoy it more.

One of my co-workers and I were talking about that this morning and we agreed DC kind of screwed the pooch by basically releasing these movies in the wrong order.

I mean, wouldn't it be much better to some of these characters in their own films rather than starting out with a big collaboration? I know I was marking out during the first Avengers film when I finally saw everyone together and same thing when Spider-man first appeared in Civil War, but I'm not really going to get that feeling with the way DC is doing things because this film should have been that except for with bad guys, obviously.

I liked it. I thought the acting was fine, with what they were given to work with. The writing let the actors down. DC's cinematic writers and directors try too hard to create memorable scenes for the characters instead of creating scenes and letting the abilities and natural personality quirks of the characters inhabit the scenes. Marvel's scenes seem so much more natural, while DC's seem forced. Despite the criticisms, I did enjoy it a lot.
