Re: Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One (2016)

Exceeded my expectations!!! Rogue One is my second favorite behind ESB. The way they did Vader, Leia, and Tarkin was great. The Vader part at the end was probably my favorite part of any movie ever. This movie also tugged at me emotionally and those who have seen it would know what I am talking about. Similar to how I felt with the Solo stuff in TFA. Great movie

Amazingly good. The final 30 to 40 minutes was awesome. Will definitely go again

Re: Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One (2016)

Man that last scene with Vader reminded me of all those Darth Vader scenes I would create in my house as a little kid. I remember one day my parents went out of the house for an hour or so and left me alone. I grabbed my toy lightsaber, black clothes and my old halloween superman mask (I pretended it was Darth Vader's helmet lol) and pretended to be Vader just mowing down Rebels throughout my house. Pretending to force choke and force through people against walls, jumping on couches and going beneath tables. Then fighting Obi Wan at the end.

That last scene with Vader in Rogue One reminded me of all those glorious moments I had as a child growing up. I'm 24 years old now and I had the largest smile on my face during that one scene alone in the movie.

Absolutely well done movie. I love how they finally made Vader mobile and not look so stiff as we've seen him in pretty much every movie. I don't know how you top that, honestly I don't. If Rey and Kylo end up fighting each other in Ep. 8 it'll have a tough time living up to 30 seconds of Vader mowing down everyone in his sight.

I am in awe...as a lifetime star wars fan I absolutely loved it. I cannot wait to go see it again multiple times in theaters. Absolutely breathtaking...I loved, as many of you have said, the subtle easter egg throwbacks...the ending with vader....just wow....i get chills just thinking about it.

Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie. Finally, FINALLY, someone made a movie with things fans want to see. Lucas getting out of the way is the best thing to ever happen to Star Wars. The ending with Vader is worth multiple viewings. Nice to see storm troopers being halfway capable. Amazing movie even non Star Wars fans will love.

              HOLY ####### ####.

              I LOVED THIS MOVIE.

Just got back from seeing it at the IMAX. It was just Epic. Pure Epic Star Wars. It was the Star Wars movie I have been waiting for since Return Of The Jedi. I thought The Force Awakens was really fun.

But this movie was serious Star Wars on a new level of maturity. I loved the entire Rogue One squad. The characters were great. Some incredible new classic scenes. And the last act was just incredible.

If you are an old school original trilogy fan you seriously owe it to yourself to see this movie a few times on the big screen. No doubt I am going back to see it one more time on the majestic IMAX screen and will no doubt purchase the blue ray for my collection (and extended version would also be welcomed). The pacing was fantastic, the story was tight, the acting was easily the very best ever in a Star Wars movie (not hard to do but seriously....excellent acting seriously).

Not enough superlatives to pass around. Star Wars is alive and well again. It just makes Lucas's Prequels look that much worse and misguided. Save for Revenge Of The Sith the other two are not even needed to be seen ever again for any reason other than the Darth Maul scene.

              My new rankings:

              Empire Strikes Back

              A New Hope

              Rogue One

              Return Of The Jedi

              The Force Awakens

              Revenge Of The Sith

Best order to watch them in IMO is

              Revenge Of The Sith

              Rogue One

              A New Hope

              Empire Strikes Back

              Return Of The Jedi

              The Force Awakens

And for the record......I can even make a great case that this is the best ever Star Wars movie....it was that amazing.

I took my kids to the same theatre I saw A New Hope when I was seven. And there I was again with the same smile and wonderous awe as a 45 year old man. I am so glad my kids got to experience the same feeling I did when I first saw Star Wars. Still have a smile on my face everytime I think of this movie! The Rogue One characters I didn't even know when I started watching and now they are a part of me and I'm so sad that they are gone! Princess Leia, 3PO, R2, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Darth Vader kicking ***, this was incredible!

Heading to the theater again this Friday night to see it again with my son.

It's Star Wars magic again. The series is back on track with The Force Awakens and now this....quite possibly one of the great Star Wars films ever. I am close to moving this up past A New Hope and only second to The Empire Strikes Back.

People are really overrating this movie big time in this thread. At best its the 4th best star wars movie yet and maybe like the 6th.

Dear lord.......you are probably in the smallest of minorities.....but to each his/her own.

This movie is an instant classic Star Wars film no doubt in my mind. Never said that about any of the prequels nor The Force Awakens.

FA is a million times better then this movie. I love the Vader stuff but out side of that the movie was kind of boring and the Characters where just ok and forgettable where FA characters where great and set up the next movie very nicely. Rey, Poe, Fin, Kylo are better then any Characters in this movie out side of Vader.

I'm just going to say a few more things regarding this conversation (and the film).

                              1) He is allowed to have his own opinion. Don't trash him for it. Speak your minds appropriately (so far I think we are, and so has he).

                              2) If it wasn't for the final act (1/3) of the film, I don't know how I would have thought about this one either. Of course I can't just disqualify that last act, but the first 2/3 weren't atop my favorite SW films, that's for sure. The last third was the best, hands down. So much awesomeness, and not just Vader. Getting through that first twenty minutes or so of this film on Blu-ray will actually be a bit of a chore for me.

                              3) This film provides a lot of fanfare for audiences. Many callbacks and references. It will be impossible for this one to not be loved by SW fans. They almost "cheat" with it, if you will. If TFA had as many references as this one, that would be loved so much more as well (it wouldn't make sense to refer to them though since it wasn't a prequel, but I'm just saying).

                              4) This film addresses one of my biggest complaints about why the Death Star was so easy to blow up in IV, so it gets automatic points for good storytelling for me.

                              5) I was very fascinated to see what Felicity Jones would bring to the table, but I think that Rey is a more interesting character than Jyn in the long run. It doesn't have to be a competition, but they are our lead female roles and make these films broaden to a much wider demographic in terms of accessibility because of it. I think Rey served her purpose better in that regard.

                              6) K-2SO FTW.
