      Re: Windows 10

Managed to delete abunch of apps that'd never be used, but looks like Microsoft made it so it's impossible to delete a number of apps. XBOX app for example is impossible to remove. Some random thing called Groove Music is impossible to remove too.

I've looked all over on google and seems like only solutions people have, involve going into the registry editor, powershell and those types of stuff to remove it. I don't understand any of those things,so I'm not even gonna touch it.

Why can't they just let XBOX app be removable like most others. And Groove Music stuff...why can't that be removed either!

          Man

          Windows 10 is like

In order to alleviate some of the load on its servers and allow users to upgrade faster, Microsoft has introduced what it calls Windows Update Delivery Optimization, which works similar to a torrent, hosting the install files on local PCs and then propagating them to other PCs on either your local network or the internet.

The problem comes in the fact that Microsoft has enabled this option by default and that no notice is provided to customers that Windows is, in the background, using some of their bandwidth and their data for updating other users' Windows. Several web sites have already called Microsoft out for this and what they - and other consumers - find to be misallocation of their network without permission.

If you head over to the 'Updates and Security' tab in the setting page, under 'Advanced Options' you can choose how updates are delivered, which will lead you to the above page. From there, you can disable the option - in case you have a data cap - and can also alternate between allowing the PC to propagate updates to networks on the local network only or also those on the internet. The former might prove particularly useful for those households with slower internet connections as the update only needs to be downloaded on one machine and can, then, be passed on to other devices in the family without requiring too much internet bandwidth.

It's already unpinned from the start. I unpinned basically every app/tile from the start menu already lol. But I'm talking about from the "All Apps" section, those things are still there and can't be deleted. It's not like they take up a noticeable amount of space or anything like that, but it's more of a random pet peeve type of thing. If I'm never using it, I don't want it installed.

Just install it and go eat dinner or something. No need to do anything else. It keeps everything you already had on your PC.

                Sounds simple enough.

Can't wait to change it when I get home, thanks.

thanks for that it was really hard to find that and default to send things to other PCs on the internet, not just within your network, can't believe MS did that

I screen grabbed his pic so I can find it easily and turn it off after I upgrade.

So, this is Windows 10 ...

Was pretty easy, though it took more like an hour to upgrade rather than the 30 minutes some of you guys were saying (I was upgrading from 7 rather than 8.1 so that could be a difference though). I actually did get auto prompted to update my graphics card drivers, though it seemed like my old drivers were still at least partly compatible as the screen still looked normal the first time 10 started. I was surprised it even kept my desktop background settings.

Yeah that's already in the Windows Mobile OS and has been for a while.

I never upgraded from 8 to 8.1 because my User files are on a second hard drive and it wouldn't let me. I think I'll have to do a clean install of 8.1 and then go to 10 from there unfortunately. I don't feel like doing it so it could be a while before I upgrade.
