The final terms dispelled any of the conspiracy stuff I guess.

"You can put your tinfoil hats away now.

Two weeks ahead of the global launch of Windows 10, Microsoft has finalized the terms of its license agreements for the new operating system. I've had several days to study the documents in detail, and I can report that there are no surprises, no gotchas, and no hidden subscription traps waiting to be sprung in two or three or four years.

Sorry to disappoint you, conspiracy theorists."

Im going to wait before I install this on my PC, but I've decided to put it on my laptop/tablet first day to check it out.

I'm still not going to jump on this, only from a compatibility aspect. There is programs I use which might have issues outside of Windows 7 so for that I'm going to hold off until I can find details on those working with Win 10.

Just installed it - now it's time to see if it that decision was a mistake.

Waiting for the download on a spare Win 7 laptop. Tick tock, tick tock...

6 GB, eh? Doesn't seem like it's downloading anything at the moment on my laptop.

My upgrade is underway. Made sure to back up my system and pull the Product Key before installing, just in case.

Seems like it already downloaded at some point and went right into copying the files. Kinda nice to already have it on my system before THE FLOOD.

Only issue I've run into so far fresh out of installation is a lot of overscan on the 2nd of my 2 monitors (which is also an HDTV). There don't seem to be any options for correcting that in the Windows control panel, but the AMD Catalyst Center did the job.

No product key prompt during installation.

Navigation of the OS still seems very familiar.

Task View is going to be nice for all of the window-jumping that I do.

If you use Norton (which also copied over without issue, BTW), it's going to let you know that Edge doesn't support plugins yet and will ask you to change your default browser to something that does (so its protection stuff will work). I think I probably would've made Chrome my default again even if I hadn't been prompted for that, though.

Yeah. Edge hasn't really stuck for me, I was able to get myself to use IE in Windows 8 and it still remains my favorite browser on a Windows tablet.
